On Kokusai-dori in Naha, eItalian cuisinef translates simply to Fishpool Cafe. The light and cheery atmosphere creates the perfect environment for a relaxing meal, while the food and drinks will have you excited for days after.
Fishpool Cafe owner Hiromitsu Komesu makes culinary offerings come alive, accenting northern Italian specialties. gI favor the northern flavors because of the pastas,h he says, recommending his spaghetti with tomato sauce pastaNow in its sixth year, Fishpool Cafe offers a half-dozen spaghettis, each with its own sauce drawn from a specific region of Italy.
Fishpoolfs casual decor is original, designed by Komesu. He began as an assistant in a French restaurant, then studied and moved up to sommelier. The lure of food was a magnet though, leading Komesu to transform his dream of his own restaurant to reality. gI wanted to offer high quality service in a cafe style,h he says of his bright?yet intimate?second floor restaurant in the midst of Nahafs bustling tourist district.
A Fishpool visit sets your taste buds salivating even before beginning perusal of the menu. For starters, choose from 14 coffees, four Chinese teas and 16 international teas, including Japanese green tea. There are also 60 varieties of French, Italian and American wines, as well as seven beers from Japan, Italy, Mexico and the U.S. Fishpool also offers non-alcoholic beers. |
Dining at Fishpool is fun, examining dozens of tantalizing entree choices. From fresh baked breads served with olive oil, to the lamb, chicken, beef and seafood entrees, no easy choices. The same goes for Fishpoolfs desserts, which include tiramisu, cheesecakes and double chocolate cakes.
Quality is in every dish, even as menus change daily. Fishpool offers a dinner set featuring appetizers, soup, pasta, bread, salad and coffee or tea for Y1,500. Meat or fish dinner sets run Y1,800 with similar servings.
Ala cartef pasta and pizza entrees range from Y780~1,350. There are many to choose from, but the crispy bacon and black pepper spaghetti alla carbonara, a Fishpool original, and minced beef with meat sauce spaghetti.
A favorite is the Australian lamb baked in netting, with a dash or aromatic herbs, or a marvelous shoulder of lamb at Y1,480. Therefs also long-legged lobster, scallops and a black red snapper mixed grill, a true seafood loverfs treat at Y1,450. |
