Default Question about TV Shows on AFN.....

Well, we are departing in 14 days, so I was just wondering about what we can expect to see on AFN ? And if any of you over there are using the AAFES-dish, what additional channels are you able to receive?

Over here, I like the Sci-Fi Channel, so that's a biggy.

We also like watching Golf, the food network, and a few others.

Spike TV is a good thing.

We'll be living off-base, and we love Japanese TV shows. But sometimes the wife just needs to get her "Tiger Woods" fix.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You don't get a lot of sci-fi stuff on AFN. They have a sports channel, movie channel, and news channel. They have two prime time channels, which play the most popular shows from the US...usually shows from ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and maybe a few other lesser known networks. Then they have a spectrum channel which plays stuff from comedy network, spike TV and such.

If you want Sci-fi channel, history channel, discovery, etc...I suggest getting skyperfect. But...skyperfect only changes programming monthly (I think)...there are a lot of reruns on there!

Didn't you have OCN before?

You can get program guides from myafn.net. (Unless you are blocked like I am)

I've pretty much given up on any TV and only watch rented movies now. Just not worth the reruns, lame shows, etc.

If you care about better programing, go with the OCN or Sky Perfect. AFN will assimulate you into a mindless blob while you melt into the couch.

AFN satellite has very limited programming compared to on-base cable. Sky Perfect has more channels available. We get our Sci-Fi fix online. heee.

ehh...only 14 channels. I started watching shows that I wasnt interested in in the states but realized I liked them. So no biggie to me really with how many channels there are or arent. I am just glad they have a cartoon channel.

cable here sucks imo, it should be free for the quality of signal and the program selection they offer.

AGREES!!!!

I accidently forgot about the bill the other day. They called my house telling me to pay or they will shut the services off. I was thinking they should credit me for all the days I didnt have cable. Seems like daily it flickers on and off. I cant depend on it fully for internet either and I do school online. I got soooo spoiled with fiberoptic off base and then moved on base to this slow shit.

The only thing I dislike about skyperfect, well, two things. There is a lot of repeating programming...especially on discovery channel and history channel. The other thing is the NFL package plays a day late....meaning the games have already been completed before they air!
