Default Japanese change

Does anyone know if there change machines here like in the states were your change and it counts it for you then gives you a reciept. I have about 19,000 yen in tens and fives and got tired of going to the soda machines and cigarette ones to do it. some helpful info would be appreciated.

Let me see if I understand you correctly you are looking for a machine that just gives you a receipt for your money?

Are you looking for a machine that will change bills into coin?

If you have 19,000 yen the most number of 10,000 yen bills you could possibly have is one, then any combination of 1,000 2,000 and one 5,000 yen bills.

Please clarify what you are looking for.

In the states they have a machine, you dump your change into it, it counts it, give you a receipt that you take to the service center or cashier and they give you dollar bills in place of the change.....or some just give you that cash.

My guess, he wants to turn the change in to bills for easier consumption and carrying around

Fon can go to a bank here, they will change your coin into bills.

No there are no coin counting machines available for "public" use.

Exactly...just take all of your coins to a bank...either on or off base and they will do it for you. They may not like you too much, but they will do it.

Any one know a place in the US that will take Yen coins? When we traveled out we went commercial so we had a mess of yen. We didn't spend hardly any of it....the banks here would only exchange the bills not the coins and really who needs a couple a butt load of yen coins sitting in a drawer?

I will have to look the next time I travel if one of the airport currency exchange places will take coins????
