I do. I have about 10.
I really like them. They can be casual or formal, but always comfortable. And they are not as loud as Hawaiian shirts. In the last few years they have been making some with preacher collars, which I really like (but haven't gotten one yet). I also like the solid black ones. A lot of those are used for funeral attendance here, but they can also be used for regular wear as well. I wish Kariyushi shirts were a little less expensive, though. |

I don't get much more formal than a polo shirt. Nope, no kariyushi for me. They just don't do it for me. Seems like everybody wears them. I'm pretty much t-shirts and jeans/khaki's year round.

They are similar in style to Hawaiian shirts, but not quite as "loud".
I would bet you could do a search and come up with pictures. Rather pricey little buggers too. |

Basically it is a hawaiian shirt that is overpriced! They are nice, but there is no way I'm paying some of those prices!

No, no, no, Dr.P. They are not nearly as loud as Hawian shirts.
Kariyushi wear is just great, and they are a prerequisite for all those who consider going native. Some do get pricey, however. The cheapest ones usually start at ¥1,900 and can go all the way up to ¥12,000. I recommend going to AAA for a wide selection in prices and styles. If you are going to buy one for cool casual wear during the summer, try and get one with a lighter color so as to reflect the sun. If you are going for fashion then go for some of the darker backgrounds with some lighter print designs. |

The cheapest ones I have seen...at least of the ones I would buy, was around Y5,000. And finding my size is a PITA! Of course I will probably break down one day in the future and buy a couple. Hell, it's not like I don't waste money on other things right?

Yea, the cheap ones are usually such that I throw them in the washing machine here at home. Right at about ¥5,000 shirts, I usually decide to send them to dry cleaning to keep them nice. Those are the better looking ones.
But when I want to stay as cool as possible but still know I am going to sweat a lot from outside activity, ¥1,900 shirts fit the bill. If you look hard enough you can find some nice patterns at that price. But the material is simple cotton. The ¥5,000 ones start blending silk and other nice material into the fabric. The feel is noticably different. |

My husband is enormous...he's 6'3" and well over 200 lbs (and all muscle)...I suppose if he decided to buy some he'd have to search long and hard to find one in his size. But can you still go out to a tailor shop and get clothing made for you at a reasonable price?
