Cell phones and global roaming/calling rates?

Has anyone been to the sandbox (Iraq, Kuwait, etc) and used a cell phone from here?

Does anyone know the global calling rates for softbank?

I have 3 cell phones all on the white 24/7 plan 980yen

Would I have to add the global calling to all 3 phones or just the one in the sandbox?

Or is there any Stateside cell phones's that work? I also have a virgin prepaid cell phone.

You'd be better off buying a phone card and using that. Whatever the rates are, I'm sure their outrageous. Not to mention that softbank is a horrible service provider.

Well, I am waiting to see if he will ever be able to talk to me and if its worth a cell phone w/global calling or not. So far he just calls me every few days for less than 2 minutes.
