NASCAR is America's #1 Spectator Sport. Do you have a favorite driver?
Alot of people think it is boring because they only turn left. But I say it is still very exciting and difficult sport to race in.
The cars have 770 hp @ 9000 RPM and a top speed up to 212 MPH.
To see three cars wide going over 150 MPH is crazy to think about.
Also I went to Charlotte Motor Speedway and the track is very steep, almost a 45 degree angle

My drivers to watch are Casey Kahne and Tony Stewart

So by "Stock", does that mean they can't modify the cars?

Quote:
A stock car, in the original sense of the term, described an automobile that has not been modified from its original factory configuration. Later the term stock car came to mean any production-based automobile used in racing. This term is used to differentiate such a car from a race car, a special, custom-built car designed only for racing purposes.
Today most stock cars may superficially resemble standard American family sedans, but are in fact purpose-built racing machines built to a strict set of regulations governing the car design ensuring that the chassis, suspension, engine, etc. are architecturally identical on all vehicles. Ironically, these regulations ensure that stock car racers are in many ways technologically less sophisticated than standard cars on the road. For example, NASCAR (the largest stock car organization in the U.S.) requires carbureted engines in all of its racing series, while fuel injection is now universal in standard passenger cars.
I think back then they had to be based on cars that normal people could buy. Look back at the 60s when the cars resembled more like normal ones.

I hate NASCAR. I find it boring and would rather watch paint dry. I find the cars corny too.

I prefer street racing and drifting.

That pic that Blues posted brought back some memories of the stock car racing I remember growing up. I think that the races were a lot more intense but the cars were nowhere as safe as they are today.

All the drivers looked like they could have had a lead role in Deliverance.

So. This is Blues' thread on NASCAR. Go make another thread about paint drying or drifting.
