Most likely after ten years you will need to replace most of the equipment...unless you know how to properly maintain it.

True.. the current panels have an average life of 10 years give or take.
After I make my new garage, I'm installing solar panels for the lighting and computer equipment.. then a seperate generator/air compressor on a trailer for the heavy equipment. (Lift/machining equipment/welder)

Maintaining is the key here of course. And I will do my best. As far as I remember (although I might be wrong as my husband does all the talking) there is a 10 year guarantee on these panels. I hope I won't have to change all the equipment that soon.

To the best of my knowledge, the chemicals in the panels begin to break down around the 10 year mark. Not a whole lot one can do about it.

We will spend almost the same amount of money every month, as we spend now on our electricity bill. So, I still think it is worth trying. And we will be even more environmental than we are now (we do not have airconditioning in our house on purpose, but it is pretty windy here and we have ceiling fans, so it is OK in summer). |
