The technology exists to produce clean reusable energy in many sectors. It has existed for many years now. I have heard that the oil companies are the major obstacles. If government and industry really wanted to create a sustainable clean power grid I think they could. The same goes for automobiles. So called green vehicles require infrastructure to become a viable source of transportation. Sure... It would cost money, but it would also create jobs.
I know this is a recuring theme in many of my posts but until the public holds the government accountable to their mandate to look out for public interests nothing will change. If people will not demand change screw it and enjoy breathing in all the pollutants in the air while the rich get richer and the rest of us continue to take it in the ass.

Does anybody know how much those solar panels for houses cost here in Japan?
I'm just curious, a few years back I heard 1 panel was around U.S. $5,000. |

It depends on a company. We are going to put some pannels on our roof soon. The cheapest we found cost 70000 yen, but smaller ones cost about 43000 yen. For 26 panels we need about 2650000.

Still worth it in the end. You get 26 panels that should be more then enought to power your house, plus you can sell back the unused power to you local power company

Yes, actually we will pay for 10 years almost same amount of money as we pay every month. Plus the local power company has to buy our unused power for a double price (new policy). And after 10 years we will have our power for free.
