When you go to pubric market in Naha, you see this thing.
This is Irabu which is sea snake, and people can eat this.
I think Irabu soup is famous food.
Have you tried to eat this? :D

I've seen them swimming in the oceans while diving around Okinawa but never in my soup. I'll pass on the sea snake soup:barf:
I personally prefer them cooked in a soup after being caught, put it into a plastic bag, suffocated, then taken out, gutted, chopped into managable sized pieces, put into a soup and eaten..
Just watch out for the bones they can be as sharp as needles.
I really dont like the smoked ones like you pictured in the OP.

I've never eaten them. I have eaten some strange shit before, but I see no need to eat these.

How can you be sure that it is fried pork and chicken you are eating there PJ? Ever notice the lack of rats, mice, and cats around the Coco's you frequent?

Hirakatsu and Tonkatsu is the best! Yum...
I don't think I would want to try the sea snake. It doesn't look good.

Actually I have had it a number of times since then. It wasnt bad at all.
I forget what ailment the smoked and dried one is for but supposedly it is to be used as a medication for something.
Probably like when they cut up and cooked cats and dumped them in a soup here as medication for asthma.:scratchchin:

I can't still eat Irabu and Irabucha which is green color fish :D
In English, irabucha is "parrot fish." That fish "should" be unhealthy sinc it does eat parts of the reef. But it is really a good tasting fish. I don't like the sashimi too much from it- too soft- but it is great steamed. (cooking with a little water)

I think Irabucha is good for soup. I have seen it at Naha public market.

Best with baby oil Trail. You have to message it quite a few times before it's ready to eat.

I'm probably the only person on the planet who hates eel. We had a German friend in Texas who made it for me, especially. Even my mother loves eel. And Japanese eel sauce sucks.
Squid, Octopus, Fugo, I can live with.:old:

I won't go near Eel--living, dead, cooked, whatever. Eel does not make me happy.
