haha their are many arguments as to who the real batman is. please vote for your favorite and talk about why. Please also talk about your favorite Joker too...the options on that are Cesar Romero (series with Adam West), Jack Nicholson(1989), or Heath Ledger.

Michael Keaton is the Batman. He played the quiet broodingness of Batman to a T, and he played the happy go lucky Bruce Wayne better than any. Jack Nicholson is IMO the best Joker. "have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light"...nuff said

I agree with nasty. Keaton should have gotten a lot more credit with this role then he did. Initially he was bad mouthed by batman fans for being chosen for the role since most of his movies type casted him as a comedy actor. yet his preformance as Bruce Wayne was spot on. The few times if any that he was funny were great but he took the role seriously. He was incredibly dark when he needed to be and played the role of the frustrated Bruce Wayne vs Batman role perfectly. If he were younger I would venture to say he would have been the perfect choice for this new series of Batman's out now. I think Bale is doing an outstanding job in the role but Keaton IMO nailed it perfectly for what he was doing. The biggest problem i have with Bale is the Clint Eastwood voice he uses when he is Batman. Keatons voice change was a lot mroe subtle.

Keaton is Batman but I have yet to see "Dark Knight" to form an opinion on the Joker Heath Ledger plays.

I heard a rumor that "Dark Knight" has arrived on DVD today at the BX/PX. Not making a special trip for it either way. I liked George Clooney, as compared to Val Kilmer.
Dying to see the latest Will Smith movie "Hancock".

Clooney to Kilmer is about the only two who can be compared to each other. Both of those movies were craptastic. IMO. I agree with you on the Clooney part though.
Hancock isn't bad but the ending is.... eh. The begining of the movie is the most interesting.

Wow, lots of votes for Keaton. I must admit I was surprised. Having said that, after reading the posts, I would agree that if Keaton were younger and took the role in these films he would do very well. I would argue that Christian Bale has also nailed the roll but the focus on his character has been geared more towards the Batman persona and the brooding side of Bruce Wayne vice the "by day playboy" Bruce Wayne.
Yes, the DVD is out in the BX/PX. I plan to get it on BluRay. I'm picky about the movies I buy on BluRay and the Dark Knight will definitely be one I get. I will not pay the on base price. I'll order cheaper on-line.
Jack was good as the Joker but I've got to go with Heath Ledger. The Joker is an off the wall whack job and Ledger played that perfectly.

As far as portraying the Batman, I thought Keaton was awesome in the first Batman movie since the campy Adam West stuff. The next few movies really sucked. The 2 new movies (Batman Begins & The Dark Knight) are well told, being more darker and truer to the Dark Knight storyline. If Keaton would have been in those, it would have been really cool. But Bale and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job.
I always thought that Willem Dafoe would have made an awsome joker. Not the campy one, but a dark, twisted one similar to what Heath Ledger played.

To me Adam West will always be Batman. I grew up watching him, and to tell the truth, the show was exactly like the comics.
Now with that, I enjoyed Keeton and I think Bale is awesome. I think Ledger is the best Joker.

Keaton is Batman since he pulls off playing "aloof" well without being a douche or being quiet. Sorry, too young to remember the whole series back from the 70's. All I remember is corny "Bam" "Zow" whatever that popped up when he hit a bad guy.

keaton. because if he tanked the first motion picture, the list would have stopped at him. bvefore clooney, kilmer and bale. he opened the door for the character on the big screen.
does anyone know the real deal on the cat woman selection for the 2nd movie? lolol @sean young in a home made costume, breaking on the to set chasing down keaton and tim burton making cat noises. (sean young = blade runner and 1st ace ventura)

IMO, Sean Young's best and only truly memorable role was that of Rachel in Blade Runner. She should have quit then. :-|

I vote Keaton for Batman. But both Nickelson and Ledger did great as the Joker in they're own way.

Adam West is by far the funniest out of all of them.

Adam West is the true batman. The others were money makers. Grew up watching batman. Seems kinda silly now, but i did see the orig bat mobile at a car show in the early 70's.
Sort like when someone asks for guns and roses live and let die and i tell them that paul mcartney did the original, they look at me like i'm full of shit:cursing:

The best Bruce Wayne -- Christian Bale hands down. Batman? There is no best Batman. No one seems to capture his persona quite the way the I'd like to see. Christian Bale would've been a shoe-in had it not been for his horrible voice acting in the Batman role. That said, I'd have to go with Keaton for nostalgia's sake; he was my first batman
