Hello, My name is Norman Thompson JR. and I lost touch with my parents when I was 7 years old. The only thing I know about them is their name. My dad's name is Norman Thompson and my mom's name is Kazuko Tonaki. I was born on October 18, 1969 on the base in Okinawa Japan. If anyone can give me information on their location, I will be forever in your debt.

I have a few questions for you here, if you feel uncomfortable answering them on the open forum feel free to PM me with the answers.

Where are you living now? How did you actually lose touch with your parents at 7 years old?

If you were placed in an orphanage here you would be able to at least I would think speak, read, and write Japanese well enough to access a larger network of people that could help you out.

How old were your parents at the time they left you?

Any and all information you could provide to include address's relatives information that would be helpful, information on whether or not your parents are actually still together. Anything would be helpful.

Having both their names means that someone has given some information or you have something to remember them by.

Thanks for the interest. I'm in California. My "orphanage" was actually spent in the California foster care system which is pretty much the same. Unfortunately IF I had their addresses I'd be over there in a minute. Sigh. If I could "look" up Tonaki in a phone book that would help but I have no access to that. I do know my grandfather back in the day owned a butcher shop in Okinawa & they are Tonaki's. An Odd twist to this whole story is I by accident met my cousin here at my work. The only family member I've ever found but he has no information on my dad. Arg. Well, at least that's a consolation prize.

Well, if you met your cousin, shouldn't you be able to get some info @ your mom? I mean, you'd think you could get some leads.

First off even if you could look up Tonaki in the phone book you could have a hard time getting the right one. While Tonaki isnt like Oshiro or Kinjyo here it still is a relatively common name. There is no garuntee that you are going to get in touch with the right one. Plus phone books here do not publish names as they once did. In fact there are very few listed.

I take it then that you went to the states and your parents separated there right? Do they have any records in the system there about your parents or even if your mother returned here to Okinawa?

You Dad is American right? So he would probably be in the states wouldnt he?

And if he was military, i'm sure they have records of home of record to get u started and follow the trail. Just depends on how much you really WANT to find him/her.
