Photography Forum Synopsis

Now time for our annual synopsis. How do you members feel about the way the Photography section is ran here? Do you want to see more post on “How to” or perhaps photos of food locations and entrees available at that location?

How about the contest? Dull? Too hard? Too narrow? Or do you want a completely different idea like scavenger hunts? Eye Spy? Or something that you would like to see?

So please, tell me what you would like to see improve here or what you wish to see when you come here to this side of the forums. I’ll try my hardest to accommodate your needs/wants.

I think its cool. I think the winner from each assignment should get his/her winning pic in the Japan Update though. Kinda like "Forum Photo of the Month".

I like those ideas. :D The contests are fine. Castles was a better idea than practical though, at least for me.

I like the catagories for the contests. However, perhaps not leave it to that the picture can only be taken in that particular month. Just open it up for any year, month, and day.

I like the Eye Spy. Perhaps some more ideas like.....automobiles, weather, macro world, festivals....maybe a particular color of any subject.

Aren't there thread polls? Why not just do that, instead of posting 1, 2, 3...etc. Also that there should be only 1 photo from each person in the final voting round.

Nominations should be made by other people. You can nominate yourself if you like. If you nominate yourself, include a picture.

There's not many visitors here so, I guess you could just put everyone in the voting light with 1 picture, and skip the niminations all together.

I like the lessons. Although I don't own a DLSR camera yet. I like my Canon 14.7mp camera :D

I would like it if you would allow us to submit a picture that wasn't taken in the particular month. I know I have some great shots of okinawa that I would like to submit if they fell into a particular category. However, I do enjoy going out and visiting a place that I haven't been to in a while (like with my castle idea that flopped:() and taking some new pics for the contest.

Your castle idea got me out of the house and back down to Zakimi Castle. Unfortunately, it was closed when I got there so couldn't take any pictures and the rest of the month I was too busy to do anything :( But yeah, I'd have had something to post in that contest if older pictures were acceptable.

Yeah I made a special trip to Nakagusku and Katsuren just to take pictures for the contest:D. Even though my month didn't happen it was still nice to get out and see those castles. I hadn't been to Nakagusku since October of 06 and Katsuren since December of 05. The wife had never even seen Katsuren and she really enjoyed the view. Found out they also made a parking lot and visitor center at Katsuren which was a lot better then dirving up that tiny road and parking on the actual casle grouds like you used to have to do:w00t:.

Got ya. Starting next year they will be opened up to any timeline. I just wanted them in that month so people would have to work for them. :)

I did this so when you vote, it would bump the thread up as Unread for people who haven't voted yet. I think I'm going to leave this in play as when I put a poll, people tend to forget about voting.

I don't quite get this idea though. Can you explain a bit more better? I'm a Marine so I'll need pretty pictures to get the point across to me :D Thank you for your input.

Yeah I enjoy going out and taking new pictures of old places for the contests. I would love to go around and take pictures for every contest but that's not possible right now. However, I'd still like to enter into some of the future contests with some old pictures:D

I enjoy seeing other peoples pics, I will try to participate in the next one. I not very creative when it comes to taking pics and I don't have the greatest camera but I will try.
