Way off topic but, you think a recent deposit of $1100 in my account from the US Treasury 200 something... has anything to do with Obama? I was told I wouldn't see my stimulus check cause I claim a foreigner. If it was his doing, thanks Barry!

Where's barackobama when you need him to answer a question and accept some grattitude? I know he lurks on this forum. Maybe he's in the arcade.

...Unless you are Comm/Signals/IT, what do you even need a thumbdrive for?
Uploading trojan horses of course & downloading sensative material.

Bypassing isn't a problem. Covering your tracks is. These days, I'm done with my little warmongering. I just created an outside line and routed it to my office. No mess, no blocks, no problem.

This posted at 1400. You wouldn't be happening to be talking about yourself, here would you?

Go f--k yourself, skippy. you have no idea what I do or how long I stay at work in the first place. You tell me with a straight face it makes sense to have email yourself a file every time you want to take it home or even to use it on another computer within the office, you're a real dumb ass.

I never said I wanted to be an exception to the rule. You're the one who hopped his happy ass in here spouting off generalizations like NOBODY needs a thumbdrive except the Comm computer nerds who are so damn intelligent- yet we got civilians doing all the work anyways. You don't know jack shit about half of what half of the people in the military do everyday, so how the hell would you know what their requirements are???

Go to DeVry or ITT Tech and get a certification that requires more than a GED and a passing score on the ASVAB to attain and talk to me later. I hear they even offer courses in refrigerator repair at the Sally Struthers School of Home Learning.

This is the biggest piece of dumbassery written yet. There's no network ban on thumb drives, I know because when I read the email this morning, my thumb drive was in the computer. So if a person was that nefarious that "he physically intrudes on my network", defeating the CAC reader/PIN number, not to mention the other people in the office that should say "hey! What are you doing on that computer?!?" or he's a bad enough ass to sneak past the MP's, break into my office, access my network, and start stealing shit- you think the inconvenience of taking a external hard drive and concealing it vs. a memory stick is going to bother him? Hell, better yet, let him email the files home to himself!

The only thing this advisory does is keep people who would normally be using thumb drives- and following the rules- from doing what they need to be doing. The thieves, wannabe hackers, and "dumb users" can still pop a thumb drive into the computer and go to town.

More likely the cause of the ban cannon coming down so hard on the thumb drives is because the news people went to the bazaar in Bagram and found secondhand thumb drives being resold. But of course, you already knew that didn't you? You were just making up a hypothetically absurd bullshit "reason" why they had to make a "consolidation", right?

Next time grown folks are talking, shut your damn mouth, hear?

:D:D (roll on the floor laughing)

tough typer, huh??

Before you get your panties all in a bunch, you seem to forgot the first thing I said was that "I am going to play Devil's advocate."

You want to P!ss and moan on the user side and I was simply giving the flip side of the coin...

You bit the bait; hook, line, and sinker. HaHaHaHaHa

"F--k yourself" classic!! :D :D

But anyways your longwinded tirade has given the best laugh of the day.

Thank you.

hmmm, so Otis, i suppose if someone called you a lazy slacking waste of taxpayer dollars, youd be suprised?

how about, NMCI pulls every one of their stations, and just leaves one general use terminal in the company office that only accesses the MOL site, and outlook. you dont need anything else from 0730-1600. the military would save a ton.

Yeah, sorry to burst your little bubble of intellectual superiority, but that ain't me. I got a bit more common sense than that, and anyways, there are plenty of people here who know exactly who I am. They also know I neither work at Foster, nor am I a corporal.

And it amuses me that you would come on this forum, during working hours, and call me a slacker. That's like somebody meeting YOU in the local gay bar and asking you "what are you doing here, faggot?" Of course, anything outside the realm of tossing about ignorant ass stereotypes is outside of your current skill set, so maybe you can relate to that example.

The Sword is a joke, one look at his website will tell you that. IIRC he used to have a little section on his site that criticized car forums (and other forums) for not being cool enough for him. He did a review of this forum and accused us all of being dependent wives who nag to much and that he couldn't stand this forum. For someone who hates this site so much it's strange that he keeps coming back.

I thought that was the metrichotrods kid. Are they the same person? Yeah, his website sucks. It reminds me of what the internet looked like 10 years ago and it's mostly just him whining about how no one is as awesome as he is if I remember correctly. I'll have to go back and check it.

Edit: And if he is the same person and he wants to keep posting people's personal info, he better know that his info isn't so private either. I have his mailing address, email address, name, and phone number. It was VERY easy to find since he's made it public info (he probably doesn't even know too)! He better not be causing problems for people unless he wants to cause problems for himself too.

2nd Edit: I see now that the metrichotrods site has an ad for a band called "The Sword". They probably are the same person.

3rd Edit: I edited out the tease of personal info (it was nothing serious, just enough to let him know that his information is out there) since DougP took care of his post.

As a matter of fact, scratch that. Make good on your thinly veiled threat. It is I, Cpl. Chauncey Merriweather. Ban me from the government computers. Get me in trouble. I need to be taught a lesson.

Speaking of banning, tho..I think we had another person get banned from THIS site for trying to make trouble for people in real life...I can't be sure.
Yeah there was, and if that is what is happening here OP he will be gone shortly I am sure.

He's pretty FU'ed to be doing that crap.

hmmm.. seriously i went to that guy swords website and it reads as if he is trying to pass himself off as some globe trotting trendsetter... lmao...

i wonder how smart the guy is when he posts a pic of his Y plates on his car.. hmm.. how hard would it be to research that.....

and then he is talking about flying to Tokyo, and Chicago on "Business"... LMAO....
and that business landed him in Jacksonville.. OMG I AM ROLLING...

that guy has issues... and let us be lucky he limits his rambling on his site... God help us if he starts spewing that mess on JU

Yeah, posting a pic like that is dumb. I was going to post about an even easier thing to look up that gives all his info, but I decided against it. The guy really isn't the brightest bulb on the tree.

I have to admit though, he has kept me entertained for a better part of the day.

He complains about all the Americans that you would typically find at Wal Mart and then in the next paragraph raves about how much he loves Wal Mart. I love loud annoying Americans, well, not really but who drives me insane and I think are really annoying, or can be are Chinese. No offense, I have some Chinese friends but I've noticed quite a few are some loud-ass obnoxious people.

Well fair question.......

Personally I think Sword's trying to "out" OPM whether accurate or not is quite a bit more invasive than someone attempting and succeeding:D hopefully at taking his site down.

Might teach him a lesson about manners. I hope anyway.

Either way fair question though:thumbup1:

It is a bit different. The Sword put his info out there for everyone to see (whether he did it knowingly or not is a different story). OPM did not. Administrator contact info for domain names is publicly accessible by anyone.

You can check any website who.godaddy.com and find out the information of the owner (https://who.godaddy.com/WhoIs.aspx?domain=japanupdate.com&prog_id=godaddy).

When you post on forums you can decide on how anonymous you want to be.

So no, I don't think it's the same thing.

Regardless if the information is public, how many people on this forum know how to utilize whois? Personally, I think dude should have been booted for his lame attempt at trying to "out" OPM, but at the same time Luna did the same thing, albeit using a different method.

I smell a poll coming. If I did something wrong I will be dealt with accordingly, but what makes me and that user different is that I am not an Asshat. ( no pun intended Asshat :) )
I could argue also that, I don't know how to use MySpace but people provide a link to member's MySpace account. Should I hit the "Report Post" button on them too?
And furthermore, I could also argue that the administrator isn't always the person running the website.
But....again, I'm not an asshat so why should I argue if I am at fault.
The Administrators and Moderators of the forums will deal with me so rest easy Takeo. :)

Don't like that one.... hmmm google search find website owner (http://www.google.com/search?q=find+website+owner&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a).

The first result is little is http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/
That one seems easier to use.

Maybe you are right, you read about some pretty dumb people (http://www.japanupdate.com/forum/showthread.php?p=170064#post170064) everyday.

I'm not trying to see you banned dude. I just find it odd that in a place where everyone is PC 99% of the time and will groan even the most mundane crap, that they aren't losing their minds about the "injustice" or double standard. I guess it's all about who you roll with.

uriel
11-20-2008, 10:02 PM
there is no double standard. what is so hard to understand? what sword did was take a name off of a network that is not accessible to the public (and touted by NMCI as "secure") and put someone's personal information out for the public to see. luna took something that was public information to begin with, and posted it in a public forum. that is a HUGE difference. it's not about who you roll with, it's about being able to see 2 totally different situations.

I understand what you are saying Takeo, but it is quite easy to find out who owns/runs a website. A simple google search of how to find this information will tell you. A simple google search however of a JU username will not tell you who the user is. A little different in my book.
