Are you including the unoffically licensed books and comics or just the ones approved by Lucas?

i will go with officially licensed or cannon references if you like

cellophane

It doesn't matter either way since I have no idea. I already recycled last month's issue of WIRED and it had the whole timeline. It included the unoffical comic printed where Leah and Luke have sex (before they knew they were siblings, of course.)

My husband is a fan of the books. He has many, many, many books... sigh. Anyhow, for active JU members who are into Star Wars like many young men are into porn, look to pimpjuice. He's a self-proclaimed Star Wars fanatic and likes the one-up game. I have the Star Wars trivial pursuit game... it's shiny. :p heh.

It's not at all wrong. My daughter, all of 11 months old, has her own full-sized Yoda lightsaber and a mini Mace Windu (pen) lightsaber. I'm a Star Wars fan also, but not to the same extent as my husband. I've only read a handful of the books. I do love the movies though. My friends little girl dressed as Ashouka from the Clone Wars cartoon series for Halloween. She looked pretty cool. Her little neighbor boy friend was that clone with the blue stripe... Cody? Rex? eh.
All hail, geeks unite... rah. :-|

chewie died as the moon of sernpidal fell on him.. he saved younganakin solo and sacrificed his own life...

anakin solo is (was the youngest son) of han solo and leia organa solo.. the also have two older twin brother and sister jaina and jacen solo...

jacen solo is also dead at the hands of his sister jaina solo... jacen turned to the dark side of the force...

luke skywalkers wife mara jade skywalker is also dead.. jacen solo killed her...

Aside from the Sci-fi aspect, how does this differ from a soap opera? Seriously...

(Not poking fun, I like Star Wars as well.)

Star wars was about a father and sons long lost relation ship and the the happiness of the bonding process, brought on by the discovery of long lost ties. Now if you can get pat the social religious intolerance, inter species racism and classism, over use of social casting, the hint of incest, and the process that the marxist regime used to gain govt control and empowered itself with use of military and wmds . Its not a bad story either

Somehow I doubt that PJ's like of Star Wars has anything to do with his views or comments on other topics. Just because I like Surfing and Beaches and BBQs doesn't mean that is the totality of my experience or all that I am allowed to comment on. If PJ, likes Darth Vader, and decides to get a tattoo of him on his arm, does not mean that he is any less qualified to make remarks on politics or any other thread that is started.

Believe it or not there is a lot more to me than my screen name of Pimpjuice... To be honest my love for star wars is simply that.. a LOVE for star wars....

I do see certain parallels between todays society and the star wars MOVIES...
To be honest the movies are barely the tip of an iceberg in antarctica.. There is so much more content out there in the expanded universe that hits on many themes in our culture today..

Keep in mind that the story arch of the Empire and Palpatine's rise to power is based loosely on Hitler and Nazi Germany... If that arch resonates with todays society in the USA it is because history repeats itself if left unchecked... Thankfully Mr. Obama checked the box on that one and we dont have to worry about Mr. Bush enacting Emergency powers to extend his term as Head of State...

I could go into depth on many of the other parallels but it does no good unless a discussion is being had with someone who truly sees the story behind the story....

Thank you for the words Sexwax...

Honestly Cellophane.. anyone on here who has met me.. and knows me.. can attest to the fact that I am a huge Oxymoron..

a 6ft8 300 pound Black man... with a ton of tattoos, who loves playing basketball, football and weightlifting, right behind my favorite hobby of reading. A unapologetic "Hood Nigga" who happens to be college educated... loves watching sportscenter and football... plays video games.. watch news religiously in between my favorite channels of Discovery, History and National Geographic... Lived and traveled to dozens of countries...

A loving and responsible father of 4 by 4 different women who believe it or not has a strong sense of family values.... A Christian who sins regularly but understands his faith is not deifined by anyone but me and MY GOD... A PIMP in my own right... Sexaholic... Love to drink and party just as much as I love cuddling with my daughter and playing Barbies on a rainy day...

In short.. I can promise you.. that whatever conclusion you have come to about me based on anything said in this forum.... be advised that my posts here are anything but an indicator of my philosophical viewpoints.. You would be surprised as to the true extent of my grasp of the world....

The problem as I see it is the moralists here, who want EVERYONE to think and be like them, so they seize on any opportunity to jump on a specific point of differentiation. I, too, did that, unfortunately, with a couple of forum members until I discovered the multi-dimensionality of them - now I number them amongst my closest friends.

Those who speak their minds clearly and CONSISTENTLY, like you, PJ, are those whom I respect the most.

Those who cloak their anti-choice or racism or wishy washy liberalism in pretty words or trite comments are those whom I find despicable.

Speak your mind, man up to who you are, or STFU.

Hah my star wars question has gotten deep please help me keep this light and fun for everyone. As much of a star wars nerd as i am, it doesnt help me form my opinions on anything else...Star Wars just helps me escape the everyday world and stimulate my imagination, which i view as very important for an adult to do. Did you read Coruscant Nights I and II??
i did and the last one should be interesting. my favorite character there has to be I-5. maybe just because he was in the darth maul book

EEWNASTY
11-19-2008, 08:35 AM
that would depend... where he wants to start at.. directly after the original trilogy... or does he want to explore before the original trilogy...

i would advise him to start with the Xwing Rogue Squadron Series.. its about 10 or so books highlighting the events immediately after the emporers death...

also the Thrawn Series by Timothy Zahn is a good series to start...
i agree i like all of the books, but i think Zahn is by far one of the more interesting reads. All the characters he introduces are well thought out and become important to the entire series.

Most certainly, being a fan of the Star Wars epic does not disqualify someone from making remarks on anything! Not quite sure how that was even derived from my post but I apologize if I put it there. I made a simple thank you to Pimpjuice of how he shared his being such a diehard fan and, for me it helped to gain some understanding . There was no prohibiton placed by me to anyone in regards on what they could comment on.

There is a great deal of philisophical aspects to the whole story and (not to be compared to recreational pastimes like surfing, or knitting, or playing shuffleboard,) there is something to be said about the association of what a person enjoys reading to his worldview. What you display on your bookshelf can serve as an insight to others what sort of vicarious experiences you have had and what ideas you might have gleaned.

I admit I am not an expert on Star Wars, but I am supposing that most fans of the saga value many of the principles, both the obvious and those alluded to. I have heard there are actually universities that offer semester long classes studying Star Wars.

i love reading, and have enjoyed the few SW books I've read. I started reading the New Jedi Order books, but then I stopped buying them, and now I think I'm going to start up again. I have read the Bounty Hunter trilogy. That was pretty good, except the author used a certain phrase over, and over, and over. I can't remember what it is at the moment. Was Kuat of Kuat drive yards much of a character at all, or was it just during these three books? How about the Faleen prince who wanted to kill Darth Vader? seems like he'd have a pretty interesting storyline.

I have several but not the complete set... I find them a little hard to read.... they are geared to the younger audience so.. yeah ill buy them and eventually read them i guess

that was a good one...

Also you remember the Enclave of Sith that were on (Korriban) that Alema Rar went to visit.. I forget the exact book its in....

I wonder when someone will explore that story arch
pretty sure you are thinking of the crystal star for lord hethrir. the korriban thing was in the lagacy of the force series, not sure which exact book though. i think the enclave of the sith is in some of the "future" comics. i call it future because i mostly just follow the books and wherever the last one leaves off is the now.

on your comment earlier about the Truce at Bakura...

i had to read it a few times to appreicate it.. it wasnt a bad storyline.. but more a matter of Kathy Tyers writing style that was kinda bland at first...

I will say I am interested in seeing how Allana progresses... i am also wondering if we have seen the end of Jacen.. with all of the knowledge he picked up during his 5 yr Hiatus.. i am thinking that his adeptness with FLOW WALKING (like when he was stringing Tahiri along) and other techniques means we will be seeing him maybe in a metaphysical state or something..
thats a nasty thought on jacen. i wonder when rynarr will be brought back as a charcter since the jadi still have him locked up. allana could be very interesting. she will remind everyone too much of jacen at many points in sure as evidenced in the millennium falcon book

EEWNASTY

i hadnt thought about raynar since the dark nest trilogy....

interesting to say the least... i wonder how much of the killiks hive mind he will retain....

I would like to see them expand Ben Skywalkers role some.. seems like they are limiting him when writing..

One story arch i really liked was the Outbound flight project...

Also I would like to see what has become of the new Yuzhan Vong homeworld...
mara did ask if the man that doesnt exist is rynar.

ben will def become a bigger figure. he had a good role in pulling luke outta his funk after mara died. lol i think tallon will live longer than everyone else.

that kinda sucks cause i'm not the biggest fan of hayden's wood block acting style. they really could've chosen better I think. even though GL puts his pants on one leg at a time, after he does, he makes dynasties!

what do you think the new hardback series will be about

EEWNASTY
11-24-2008, 07:02 AM
i am thinking it will explore Allana in detail.. Ben will come of age...

Like we discussed before I believe Jacen will have a resurgence some how... albeit in an ethereal form...

i would bet something is gonna threaten the galaxy....

something threaten the galazy in star wars come on please lol. i think that jacen will show via allana as he did at one point in the mf book. he will "protect" her from something. what is left for a galactic problem though

EEWNASTY
11-24-2008, 07:03 AM
how bad is daala really gonna be

EEWNASTY
11-24-2008, 07:08 AM
I am not sure.. I am thinking that they will explore the Restore Honor to the Republic Arch some more....

I am thinking that a huge rift will divide the Jedi... even more so than before...

Also Chief of State Daala I believe will eventually try to round up all the jedi or something of that nature..

I think Luke or another major character will die in this series...
luke i IMO is too logical to kill off now. he has to suffer more without mara. who do you think will go first han or leah. will they ever have more noghri with them or wookies. what could divide the order more than they were during the dark nest crisis or through the beginning of the YV war

EEWNASTY
11-24-2008, 07:19 AM
the rift between the Jedi will be between those who succumb to Daala and her oversight of the Jedi.. and Those who refuse to.....

Han will go before Leia.... Age and Leia has the force....

I think Luke will sacrifice himself for Ben... or maybe Allana... Luke is ready to be with Mara again...

sounds like the same split in the jedi as the dark nest crisis im thinking that han and leia will go together you know all the closeness and whatnot they have had since the end of the yv war. while i agree with what you say about luke i will be dissapointed if it is this series...well at least in the writer that takes that easy path out. that and zahn has expressed interest in a luke/ben originally a luke/mara/ben book. i want that to happen before luke dies

EEWNASTY
11-24-2008, 07:28 AM
yeah.. good points..

it will be intersting to see how this series unfolds...

so much has already been written i am just hoping this isnt some kind of Rehash....

myabe the force will be redefined.. lmao
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not again lol. im betting it will use jaina as a primary character again... at least i hope so. she has to have been changed by killing jacen in unique and new ways. just hope they dont go the route of her dabbling in the dark again like after anakin died

EEWNASTY
11-25-2008, 08:58 PM
Jaina is a good character for them to flesh out a little more.. I enjoyed her stint with Boba Fett and the other Mandalorians...

I am ready to see her finally decide who she is gonna be with...

Damn indecisive ass women
girly squeal...lol i hope it is jag...though like the luke dying thing is expected. i know zekk isnt dead since they are writing another book for him, but he just kinda bores me as a character since he came back to the light side. hah and you said you didnt like the traviss books but her stint with the mando'a is just that and i really liked her work in the legacy era books. im also interested in the imperial commando book/books

do you think rynar will be in the new hardback series because in the legacy series luke and mara talked like they thought he would be ok in 2-3 years

EEWNASTY
12-02-2008, 06:15 PM
i think its a possibillity.. but in what capacity...

his story arch was interesting (to me) in regards to the Killiks...

but it would be cool to see how much he is healed.. both physically and in the force..

they said he had accepted a prosthetic arm and was contemplating some surgery to fix his face... and he is/was pretty powerful...now no clue how strong he is without the killiks

wonder how jaina and zekk will come into play if raynar enters the story line...

will they start rubbing their forearms again....

that leads me to think Jaina and Fel have kids..

thats my understanding but i havent gotten into the comics much. i wonder what daalas plans for the jedi end up being. she said she didnt like me in legacy, do you think she will sic the mandos on em

EEWNASTY

possibly....

but i am not so sure how interesting that would be....

i would rather see the mando's and jedi on the same side fighting the same war with a power struggle that leads to animosity....

but for that another big bad enemy would have to appear

that would be interesting but it would have to be worse than the vong. and i would be sorely dissapointed if they went extra galactic again. maybe the sith on korriban will poke 1 or 2 out to fight

EEWNASTY
12-03-2008, 10:38 AM

Although wary of the dialogue, am excited to see this show as well. :D

The much talked about Star Wars live-action TV series has apparently began searching for actors.

The show, which has been heavily rumored since 2005, is set to take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It will contain only minor characters from the Star Wars Universe and will chart the rise of the Rebellion as it begins its fight for independence from the evil galactic empire.

There will be no Jedi’s featured in the upcoming series which for me personally is good news. Just give me the smugglers and I’ll be happy.

One thing that I should caution you all about is that George Lucas is wrting the entire first season himself, much like he did with the Clone Wars CGI series on the Cartoon Network. The plan is for good old George to write some terrible dialog and generally make a mess of a good concept, and then after all the damage is done, hand the show over to some proper writers for the second series.

Yep, Lucas is penning the entire first series himself.

Why does George have to play at being a writer, what’s wrong with just producing?

I think George Lucas has lost the magic touch Star Wars needs. He seems to get further and further from what made the original movies so timeless. Maybe the top authors currently penning the books could get together and pull off a series. Timothy Zahn has written some of the most interesting ones I've read.

A good series would be to follow some of the Cantina, Jabbas palace, or Bounty Hunter books.

Any stories will be welcome, as long as they are well done. Suprisingly, I somewhat like the animated series, even though they don't seem to target the audience they should be..

The episodes that follow the clone troopers are alot more entertaining for me.

Some good live action episodes are needed to properly get my lightsaber swinging techniques down.
