Topic: Castles/Ruins
5th month. Castles were an important part of an empire. Usually on the highest point of their land, they oversaw all their land and could be seen from anyone on their land. An important element in defense and power. Okinawa is full of them so this month, try to get out and snap a shot of one. Happy hunting! :star:

REMINDER:

This month winner chooses the theme for the following - following month.
The photo(s) must be taken during the month of the assignment. ( ie: this topic is for the month of November )
The assignment will be open for the entire month. The first week of the following month will be the voting period.
Voters will vote (by posting) for (3) three photos in the order that they think should be placed. ( ie: If a voter post 4, 6, 8. The voter believes #4 should be first place, #6 should be second place and #8 to be third place )
Anyone can vote and you can vote for yourself too.
This month, only one photo.
Need a place to upload photos? Try the following ( I'd watermark them first ):

Mine were of nakagusku and katsuren.

First one is the entrance to nakagusku

Second one was also of nakagusku. My favorite view of the castle!

Third one is just a pic of katsuren from right below it. It was a nice day so I thought the picture came out pretty good.

I had a few good shots of shuri but they were with my old camera so I didn't want to use them. There were a ton of school girls in the pictures too.....not that it bothered me:D

Let me guess...Flashing a Peace sign?
I do really dig your night shots from September though. I'm not a new member of the forum, just long absent from it. I will be returning in 2009 & would like to get reaquainted with & meet new folks who are into photography. I took tons of pics while over there last year & am looking to view, compare, talk equipment & share some of my pics from my short time there in 2007.

Not necessarily. If there are people around, just take several shots as they are moving around (maybe 5 shots, but it depends on how busy it is). In Photoshop, you can use the image stacks (it might only be in CS3 Extended, but I'm not sure) to merge the images together and it will remove all the people. If you have a steady hand, you won't need a tripod as Photoshop can automatically align the images. Merging several images together has the added benefit of removing alot of noise from your pictures too. If you don't have Photoshop, The Gimp (which is free and pretty powerful) should also be able to do this, but I haven't tried it yet.

Thank you P_chan & jerky656 for your entries and participation in last month’s contest but for some reason, November through December are the lowest points when it comes to photography contest and forums.

For December, there will be no contest, just rather a thread about holiday photos that you wish to share. January I will resume the monthly contest.

Thank you all JU members for giving this forum section a breath of life. I hope to continue posting here as much as I can. :thumbup1:
