Please?

The beauty of my memory
No longer holds such thrall
Her tiny body, frail and old
No voice for her to call

I’ve long expected, though I knew
That nothing ever lasts
We all must reach the final step
And then what’s left has passed

Although now like a tiny child
My love’s grown ever strong
The wish that I could hold her here
To keep her…is that wrong?

She sits and watches life go by
She cannot understand
The words of love I give to her
But I still hold her hand

She can’t have reached the final lap
I cannot be prepared
Through all my life, adventures too
Her love she never spared

I sit in useless frantic thought
With hope that help may come
I lost my dad an age ago
I cannot loose my mum.

I cannot stop the tides of time
But even then I pray
That even for a tiny time
Some God will let her stay
