I like the same ones that all those guys in America love...you know, the ones who take Japanese in college and cruise fansite forums all day and are practically Japanese. :D
There's a word somewhere in my head for this but I'm having trouble finding it.
Mostly cause those are the ones I was introduced to...(Korean class and being a DDR fiend back in the day makes for meeting interesting people!)
Utada Hikaru
Ayumi Hamasaki
Morning Musume...<3 yes maybe I'm a bit of a perv.
BoA
Honestly I'd be up for more. I get stuck in music ruts...obviously. I need someone to sit me down and make me listen to something. Not so good at fishing out good stuff.

check out the first post...was just being stupid/cute...but there are some killer songs in the list.....title is in between the paranthesis...i just use you tube and do a search on the top music on the oricon charts......by cutting and pasting..and if i like it i get it through ebay....
fyi.."makinaide"...or " dont give up"...by zard..is one of the top songs in japan ever....zard was origionally a bikini model- yes very good looking imho....became a singer....was shy...never really preformed..but had many top 10 singles....became the top artist/musician in japan during the 90's... got uterine cancer...metastatic (spread) ..to her lungs and died last year at a hospital....really tragic...
i just love zard......and actually just discovered her two months ago.....:)

I love Japanese music, but Im getting tired of listing bands, because it turns out to see who can list the most bands, and the true bands they like usually end up with a bunch of others.
I took a screenshot of my Japanese music folder....these are the people or bands that I like.
Now, I will give you some thanks, if you can specifically tell me which bands in my list are from Okinawa, Japan WITHOUT honostly looking it up on the internet.. :old:

very nice rudel...aside from mongo 800, begin and namuro amiye, and the girl who sings the "kealii reichel" song....am not sure...who is okinawan and who is not...i just started to listen to jpop..like two months ago and am almost totally ignorant.......of jpop....i live in the us...
i mostly listen to western music...but since visiting japan for one week last year...have started to listen to jpop....zard in particular...
i am no expert in okinawan music,,jpop, etc....
not jpop,,,but the first time i heard..the eisa was last year when i went to the okinawan village/underground cave complex just last year.....
the eisa rocks...
your best list would be most appreciated if you would list it...i will be sure to check it out.....

I dont know about my faves being hard core...lol. Shaka Labbits, Ellegarden, and Mongol 800 by American standards would be pop punk, like green day, blink 182 etc.
Rebecca is definately 80s
Kick The Can Crew.....well. Ive havent heard much rap in America that sounds soothing like theres with break beats and such. Considering most american rappers rap about money, girls, butts, shooting, BLADs, Im a pimp this, Im a pimp that...etc etc.
Im really not to much a fan of rap, but Kick The Can Crew and Fire B I can listen too.
As for Metal music. I use to be really into it, and I still have a few faves, but Im just not liking it as much, because I really cant hear what they are saying, whether its a CD or a live show.
I did take my Wife to a Slayer concert 2 years ago, Killswitch Engaged open for them. Had an awsome night there!
I see you are in Hawaii man. If you are on Ohau, take a trip to Wakiki for the night, there is a Japanese Karaoke box near club Moose!

rudel...you went to a slayer concert....
only the hard core go to slayer concerts...i went to one, myself like 10 years ago...also went to see iron maiden, pantera, the cult, metallica, dio, dokken,etc.... if it was in hawaii i went...but now is now...and now...
i'm currently into zard and trd...so some of your music sounded hard to me.....
trd's...."crazy gonna crazy"....bad english, but it is cute in a way to me....
and hearing zard sing "dont give up/ makinaide" is just so inspirational to me...
thanks for the karaoke link..but the last time i went to a karaoke.....was 5 years ago....now i just very rarely sing in the shower or car and am just as content...believe it or not.....yes i am getting old...:)
thanks for sharing...really appreaciate it....:thumbup1:
