I'm only familiar with the Ryukyu Horiyoshi (http://www.ryukyuhoriyoshi.net/) tattoo place that everyone goes to, Monster Ink (098-939-0995) tattoo up the street from Richie Rich just off KAB gate 2, or Needle Slave (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=32507575) on hwy 58. I don't have any tattoos, but people I know who do liked these folks.

My wife got a tattoo from Ryukyu Horiyoshi. She won some type of drawing at a bar a few years back and got a tattoo from them for free. It's a small butter fly on her lower right back. It's pretty good, I was thinking about getting something myself.

If you want to get away from the more commercial tattoo places... Botans. I don't know if they have a website, but I can send you directions if you want. It's almost Japanese only, but they do allow Americans... if they are nice. They do the traditional Japanese tattoos. They are outstanding with detail, and very cheap. The best tattoo that I have is from them... it's also one of the cheapest and it's a half sleeve

I don't have a tattoo, but I also recommend the 'One Shot' tattooe place down in Naha. I kind of know the owner and his wife and he is a professinal from the mainland.
The place is huge inside and has it's own parking.

An appropriate name. When it comes to tattooing, the artist better get it right the first time! :D

I've seen some work from the Harley Bar, and it's pretty impressive. My friend Kate does work there.
I don't recommend the place right out KAB gate 1...I forget the name but it's right above a skateboard shop and karate place. I got a tat done there and he messed up the coloring on my dragon (he colored the finger black, which is the claw color, the finger should have been green...I even had a colored pic of what I wanted and he still messed it up), the ink faded rather quickly and my husband got a tat there too and his faded also.

I would stay away from Ryukyu Horiyoshi on Gate 2. I was told that the old man there has Hep C and some stuff about dirty needles. Tattoos are good but not worth having a body part rot off.

Oneshot ftw...take a look at Koizumi Satoru's Myspace page...DOPE!! He does everything from ukiyoe-style, Old School (like Chris Audigier), freehand, and even full body irezumi.
Located right on Kokusai-Dori. I'm definitely taking a trip when i get back home.

That's where I got two of my three tats. I remember he'd put on the Pulp Fiction theme or Korn music or something as he did his thing. Good times had.
