I will back to Okinawa in end of December, and I will stay there about
one week.
I'd like to meet people in JU, and I want to have dinner or lunch.
If we could have dinner, Izakaya place is good.
Chatan is best place, and there are many Izakaya style place.
If you have proposal, please tell me. We could make plan in here.

Not everyone here lives in the Chatan area and there are plenty of decent izakaya outside of that area as well.:D

I will stay my parents house in Tomishiro. I could take taxi to go there or
my mom take me to there.
Well, dk told me there are good place in Chatan:D
Naha is fine too, but the only people who will probably show up are Muku and Okisteve...
Or, I think Okisteve lives down there, right? Maybe Eelecurb? lol. Everyone else is pretty much up here around the middle of the island or more north...

We'd like to go to a Christmas/New Year meet and greet, gtlm. It'd depend on my husband's schedule though. We're not familiar with anything south of the Naha airport; actually not familiar with much south of the brown building Baptist church intersection. Give us the dates you're available, and hopefully we can all get together. :)

Do you know any good place to eat or drink?
I will have New years party with my family on January 1st, and
2nd is my nephew's birthday so I can't get out that's day.
I will back to Okinawa on December 27 and I will leave there on
Janurary 4th. We should have meeting between this period.
Well, I'll be out of town but a couple of my favorite Izakayas in Chatan are Poco a Poco (great relaxing environment and eye candy), and Kimpa Gimpa (great Ramen). There's also a new one that should be opened pretty soon, the big greyish building that just went up in Mihama on 58, it's supposed to be some famous Izakaya from mainland.

I thought Poco a Poco was a female clothing store?

Maybe that's why it's a relaxing environment with eye candy? :scratchchin:

There is a female clothing store by that name. But there is an Izakaya in the parking lot of a Arcade on 58 with the same name. Maybe same owner...

I'm down. I didn't make the last meet because most people were spread out ( some in the smoking area and some inside ) so I got confused. That was like, almost a year ago, lol. Plus, I was on crack so....little bit of nervousness.
I know an Izakaya that has 50 yen beer all night. Hopefully it is still there when I get back. 7 more days baby! WOO!

You may want to reconsider that one seeing as how poorly people from here were treated there during the lockdown meet.
There was quite a bit of justified anger at the management for there asinine way it treated folks, at least according to the after action report.

Cripes Luna little town between Yonabaru and Onna....that's almost half the damn island....Nishihara, Nakagusuku, Kitanakagusuku, Okinawa City, Uruma City....cut across the island and you have Urasoe City, Ginowan City, Chatan, Kadena, and Yomitan.

Onna-son is so far from my parents house where is Tomishiro.
Tomigusuku.......:D
Dont know if you knew this, I just heard this story recently myself, but the name Tomigusuku has been used ever since the now city was a village.
People started using the name Tomishiro after Tomishiro HS went to Koshien nearly 30 years or so ago. Plus any of the public buildings, namely Tomishiro Minami HS, Tomishiro HS and Tomishiro ES were built and named by the prefecture. Locally or city built schools and public buildings were given the Tomigusuku name, which happens to be the actual name of the City.
For those that dont know, Tomishiro is the "mainland" way of reading the kanji and Tomigusuku is the Okinawan way of reading the same kanji.
豊見城 plus on any Word Processing programs the automatic or default change for the hiragana to kanji is now Tomigusuku and not Tomishiro.

Have anybody gone izakaya which is Kitadaichi in Chatan?

There are a few in the Naha area and I have been to those. Kitadaichi is a franchise type of izakaya, their main claim in television CM's is to be a "kaisen" izakaya and for the most part they lived up to that claim imo. Oh sorry, never been to the one in Chatan.
However I thought they were a bit overpriced for the quality and quantity of food.
They aren't bad, but in my opinion, they are nothing to write home to Mom about.
Worst Izakaya (if you can call it that) I've been to is called Kitakaisen (I think), in the Chatan sports center. Is that the same place? It feels like a church potluck (at least the room it's in reminds me of church get-togethers I've been to), except w/ horrible food and alcohol.

So in Asia and Alabama, it's okay to take a baby to a bar. :thumbup1: I tried to tell my husband that when Sex Wax and them were going to be at Fujis on Thanksgiving, but he's from Texas. I guess they don't do that there. heh. :p
It's really the cigarette smoke that concerns me. I don't want her in a room filled with it, if I can help it. I don't know of many Japanese restaurants that are non-smoking though, except in hotels or upscale places. Then again, we don't eat out much.
