Yebisu, The Hop - GOod
1 beer, 1 rating (good/bad/Good/Bad/GOod/BAd, etc.) per post please. The amount of capital letters in the word good or bad will specify your opinion of the taste.

What are you trying to do here? Poll? Yebisu is not on my list of good beers.
W.E.
Just a little experiment, guess it ain't gonna work. Zannen....
I thought if people could understand my first post easy enough they could maybe follow suite and we could get a little beer rating thread going.
Back to the drawing board I guess.
IMHO though, as for Japanese beers, there's Asahi Super Dry, Yebisu, and that's about it.
Edited to add: No, not a poll.
Yebisu, All Malt - good, if you drink it before any others. bad, after a Yebisu The Hop

They used to always have it at the shoppette. I believe Alteck does have it for about tripple the price.

Never heard of this one. They have it here in Okinawa?
Delirium Tremens - Good
Alteck has it. It's a 9% Belgium Ale and I believe made by the same people as the above mentioned Guillotine (which can also be found at Alteck).
You'd be surprised at how easy it is to drink considering the alcohol content.

Samuel Adam's Cherry Wheat - GOOd.
However, I must add that I'm not too uppity when it comes to beer. I think beer is best enjoyed between 11am-5pm, when you want to drink, but it's just not always appropriate to drink hard liquor (except margarita's, bloody mary, etc., but that's another thread)- watching the ball game, at the beach, etc.
That being the case, I'm not going to be drinking that expensive beer at the cyclic rate. I'd much rather go for quantity over quality in that case. Hell, let's be honest, after about three beers, they all pretty much taste the same anyways. The fancy beers are cool to have one or two of at a nice dinner, that's about it.
FYI- they have Budwieser on sale at Lester Shopette- $10 for a 24 pack! That's less than 50 cents a beer- for REAL beer, not happoshu! It makes Bud look more and more sexy when it's cheaper than water!
Newcastle- BEST
I disagree, but do enjoy it occasionally.

Pacifico just sounds like a cool beer to drink. Like if I was rich and laying outside by the pool looking off my balcony into a great view during summer, I'd be drinking Pacifico...

With a taste :barf: that makes drinking water more appealing.
Sorry OPM but Budweiser is not my idea of beer, I'll take Kirin Tanrei over Bud any day of the week.

How's about some mexican beer from the pi*s-besotted Rio Grande River that requires a wedge of lime to ingest:rolleyes:?

Not a huge fan of the sweet stuff either but it's not as sweet as you would think. A 1/2 yard and some fried calamari at the Yardhouse is great!!

With all the "eyeball liberty" in that place, the cheap drinks were just a bonus!

Orion - bad
Only Bad if it's the cheap version of Orion they serve at bars that are being chepskates.....also bad when slightly warm because they won't clean their taps more frequently...
I'm horrible with this because deployments have got me hooked on horrible/cheap beers (they are cheaper than mixed drinks), so I have no sense of good beer, I just get used to whatever's cheap.
Coors Light- GOOD
Asahi Super dry - GOOD
Ice cold pitcher of beer at Big Echo - GOOD
I like Super Dry
and as for Orion, I agree w/ you, I just get sick of ordering it cause it's cheap and then it tasting like shit.
My buddy at Baku has the best Orion on island. Seriously his taps are like special and make beer that taste bad or just OK elsewhere taste great.

You and 99 percent of us American Beer drinkers. Hell, how can anyone take Lite Beer by Miller seriously?
When I got into brewing however, I found that all major brewers of shitty American beer ran small R&D breweries testing new beers. From what I heard they hired some pretty good masters and turned out excellent products...but that they knew they couldn't get the American consumer to drink them.
That has all changed I suppose with the advent of micro-breweries.

Did you ever make it to the Frankenmuth Brewery before they closed on your trips back to MI? If you did, what did you think of it and the beer?

Unfortunately, no. I've never hit any breweries/brewpubs that far north. However, I've been to plenty all over the southern third of the state.. My favorite is probably Founders in Grand Rapids.

It has been a looong time since I read the word "Frankenmuth" used in a sentence...... Hell I lived in MI for 19 years and didn't know they had a brewery in Frankenmuth. I thought they only had Christmas decorations!
It could be that they were my first 19 years so I wasn't too concerned with BEER back then. I only slightly miss MI.

I thought the taste of this was about a 2 or 3.
I recently had some Blue Moon and I'd say the first one is great. But it's not a beer I could drink allot of at one time. the second and third didn't taste as good to me as the first.

The orange helps with the Blue Moon. I had some fresh blood oranges, and kinda lost track they were so smooth. I normally drink one beer a week, I think I had 9 that night.
Luckily, I still live in the Yuengling (http://www.yuengling.com) state. I have heard Dick Yuengling say that they would supply PA first, then the rest of the country as they had stock. I don't really like the Lager, which seems to be the most popular around here. Personal favorites are the porter and just plain premium, which you can still get here in returnable bottles (pounders) for 12 bucks a case.
We also have Brewery Ommegang (http://www.ommegang.com/) close by, awesome Belgian brewery, they sell their stuff in the grocery stores in NY. The Hennepin is awesome, although I like the Rare Vos best.

Not sure which Yuengling I had when I was home. They had it in NY at Peek N Peak. Anyways, I'd always heard people rave about it. I personally wasn't real impressed. I definately liked Blue Moon better than Yuengling but that Porter sounds like it may be good.

The porter is good, much better than the popular Black & Tan, which is Porter blended with Premium. The Lager always had a weird vinegar taste that makes me sick. They have some seasonal brews that I don't get into much.
We also have the Lion Brewery in Wilkes-Barre. They make Stemaier and the Pocono Ales and Lagers.
I've made my own a couple times, turned out fine, if not stellar. Mostly I stick to wines and ciders though. Hopefully my bees will produce enough honey to make some mead this year.
