No not home porn!

I have about 16 hours worth of video that I need to put onto DVD.
This will be my first attempt, I'm so new, that I just bought a DVD recorder for my pc today!

Any pointers from anyone who is somewhat proficient?

The bad thing is that my recorder is Japanese, which means the bundled software may very well be Japanese too. I haven't been able to check it yet. I have other software that came with the camera though.

I bought DVD-R disks today and will start when I get home. I was told a few weeks ago that when you burn DVD's on your PC that they are region free...is that accurate?

Oooooh. Very cool topic. I'll definitely be reading up on this. I actually had this computer built so that I'd be set for gaming and video production, but the only thing it ever gets used for anymore is gaming and the forums. lol.

Well I bought the JVC everio camera last month...knowing that I didn't have a burner yet. I have plans to get a new pc possibly within the next 3-5 months.

I didn't buy the Everio burner becase it is $179 on base, and you are limited with what you can do. I picked one of those up today just in case I need it, but my intention is not to use it.

My laptop has a burner on it and a few programs. I only made one dvd and I still suck at it. LOL I made the dvd back in november for my mom and I still haven't sent it!

maybe anything that would make the process a little simpler? Not sure really. I'm about to start my 1st attempt now, so I guess I'll post some more specific questions later.

Ok...here is a specific question!

I have been successful making 3 DVD's so far. But about 7 out of 10 fail. When it goes through the authoring process, I get about 98 to 99% done then it either closes, or I get an error message. Anyone know what may be causing this?

I'm gonna try searching online, but hopefully someone here may know.

Hmmm...no helpers here? Here is another question:

My files are saved (automatically) as .mod files. The software (someone gave me) doesn't accept this file type. Is there a way to change the extension so that the software will accept it? I'm off to google to search for an answer.

That's my husband's area of dabbling. He's put together a few videos used as ads for people. I'll let him know about your thread. He works a mid tonight and tomorrow, so may not get to it before then.

Sonique supports many audio formats, including WMA, MPEG, MP2, MP3, WAV, MOD, XM, IT, S3M, and CD audio.

You need to dowload codecs, so you will be able to convert anything! Check out Nero, or http://www.cccp-project.net/, or http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/18620p1.html

Sorry, I really can't think right now, my friend died...

Nero is no help...as I already have that one. Thanks anyway

There is a program called Dr Divx that can do the DVD's as well... but i think it is a _buy_ it not try it...

What are you using to make the dvds? Do you have roxio? or Divx? or ???

I've been using the software that came with the camera (JVC), a friend gave me some other software to use and that didn't work either. I would have to upgrade my Roxio, as I have an older version and it doesn't do DVD's.
