Could someone explain the members rankings and the number of posts required for promotion to the next rank?
Also with a forum such as this couldnt we figure out something better than Junior, Member, Senior?
Maybe something more classical like, peon or peasant, landowner, lord :barf:

I think you become senior member at 100 posts.
The current system is
0-29 posts :: Junior Member
30-99 posts :: Member
100+ posts :: Senior Member
I agree though, it's really boring. I'd like to improve it, but I'm not a very creative person when it comes to things like this.
I was thinking about just letting users create their own user titles. That should make things pretty interesting.
I look forward to reading others' views on this topic.

I've always thought the ranking posts were waaaaay to low.
Maybe a chest designation would be cool:
Pawn...0~100 posts
Knight... 101~200
Bishop... 201~500
Castle... 501~1000
King...1001~
Or change the titles to something different with a well known imagery for ranks. But, I think those numbers are more appropriate for titles advancing.
Yeah, I agree TP. I didn't want to make the numbers higher until our members started to have pretty high post counts though. Now isn't a bad time for change though.
I'm not really digging the chess theme though. I'm thinking something a little more colorful would be fun.
Which is why I'm seriously considering allowing users to set their own titles. Then Pchan could have stuff like "carnivore" or whatever he wanted. :p

I've seen forums like this where there is a set ranking system for a certain number of posts. But you were also able to make your own custom user title too.
I don't like the chess idea, but it's a good example of what we could do. Maybe something related to this site or okinawa would be cool. Kinda like how www.adventchildren.net has rankings like black mage, red mage, blue mage, etc...

What I have seen in other forums, dk, is that a member has a title designated by rank from the forum under their avatar based on post count, and then under that they have about 15~20 characters to put in any word or small phrase they can fit in there.

Registered users can now add their own custom user title. I found that option in the admin tools.
You can set your own under "Edit Profile".
Mods and Admin can't though. I would prefer for it to be pretty obvious that we're mods and admin.

First off what is the goal here for JU? Something related to the site itself would probably be more appropriate. I know you were kidding here.
Seriously now, do you want this to be a forum strictly about Okinawa and Okinawa related topics?
Or is there a wider goal in mind? Something related to the "nature" of the forum would be in my opinion more appropriate.

Actually your right, I would probably take a S15 as my number one. But the RX-7 would be in a very close 2nd. I like the skyline but too many americans drive them around like their the fastest things in the world. I love the R34s and some R33s, 32s if they have a lot of nice work done to them. The brand new one's aren't bad cars, just not as sporty. More like a BMW 3 series then a tuner car.

I just like being here. :p Before these forums were built, it was rare when I'd do anything for JU after I came home from work. I LOVE these forums. I'm having a blast. Probably more fun than any of you guys. Cuz I get to play with all the bells and whistles in the backend too!

I remember this one site where you could make custom user titles for other members as well as your own. Of course only you saw it but it was still cool.

Hmm. I had a 3 series while I lived in germany, I didn't do a lot to it...just a kit, lowered, rims, the engine was fast enough, but I did a few mods to it to make it a little faster on the autobahn :army:
But I'm with you Americans over here would kill for a skyline. Mine was basically given to me because I needed a car and I hate four doors, LOL.
The S15 is my dream car <3

I don't get jealous, usually it's some old guy riding around it...so at stop light I try to flirt, LOL who knows, maybe I'll get to drive it one day. There is one for sell at Cow Cow Y12,900 :scared: OUTRAGEOUS (but if I had the money I'd sooooo buy it)
