I mean, when I sit on the beach, and play guitar, i'm usually shit-faced drunk. Or when I'm at home. and I play guitar, I'm usually shit faced drunk. And when I'm up at Club Fujiyama, and one of the guys lets me play his guitar, I'm usually shit-faced drunk. As opposed to "sober" playing.

EVERY band needs a shit hot drummer and bass player. The guitar player can be half assed and it's not very noticeable. The second the drummer screws up, everbody knows it.
Maybe someday I will find a shit hot drummer........

Go talk to Ray or Leon up at 7th Heaven, they know plenty of drummers/bass players. Tell 'em "Ash" sent you.

I once had not one but TWO shit hot drummers in my band in college ten years ago. To this day, I have never found another drummer of their calibre, and I think that's a big reason why I haven't pursued having a band on Okinawa...
That, and, well, everybody's seems to be partial to the heavy shit on Gate 2, which is not my thing...

I'm not into that shit either. I'll take Neil Young, Joe Walsh, Hendrix, SRV, Johnney Lang and any other old school tunes over that shit any day....

Exactly. I like Phish, Wilco, and Radiohead as well as some of the bands you've listed. I'll be happy to jam out to some Hendrix and Neil Young with you someday. But I won't be available probably until at least December. I've got decent gear, but it is being neglected BIG TIME.

I would have to say that the majority of my friends here are musicians, Metal, Punk, Classic (armchair) Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Hip-Hop/R&B, J-Bands. I like it loud and live....on the Beach is even better. And while many local musicians hang out at Gate 2, it is not the only venue on Island. There are many places that have house bands that are very good. I've even heard some pretty decent guys sitting on the street in Naha. Most places here will let you play at their place, but some charge you to play. I 've even had some pretty good pick-up bands playing right here in my backyard during a BBQ.

Only thing different from the name will be no beer tents. Commander turned it down, didn't want a drunk fest. What the hell is a wine tasting event? Beer is just a different beverage that makes you pee more:D

We were working on "Carry On My Wayward Son" the other day but once we get all those intricate parts down, it should be no problem playing the song. it'll be awesome to play out!
That song alone is a bitch, complicated and twisted But totally rocks at the same time!
other one is "Don't Stop Believing" By Journey there's more notes in that song than it meets the eye, in order for it to sound right.
