Recently on a couple of threads I have seen some posts that look as if they came directly out of a newspaper or magazine add. Maybe the poster is an advertising writer, I dont know, but I highly doubt it. Yet that is my personal opinion. Question here for the powers that be......

Is there a policy here on this forum to properly quote published material?
I think it is the height of arrogance to use published material as ones own, without properly stating or more properly quoting the person, location, material, or link where the information was gathered from.

And for anyone else interested any comments that you would like to share or add?

Rule #9 on our forum rules (http://www.japanupdate.com/forum/announcement.php?f=22).

Do not post copyrighted material in full. When quoting news stories or copyrighted material, please post a link to the story. Post only the excerpts of those points which are most important for discussion.

Those are the guidelines we have so far. If you have any ideas how we can improve on them without getting overly wordy, we're all for constructive criticism. :)

These forums aren't for writing your thesis, so there is no need to go overboard in your citations.

Do not waste dk's time.

Seems as if I broke one of the rules, sorry about that. Was not intentional.

I just wonder what posts he was talking about? Were they articles or was it in the jokes thread?
