Is there anyone out there that has some information on where to find carpet padding?
Two years ago, I bought padding and carpets from AFFES. Now they have only carpets. I guess it is another change for them to save money.
I appreciate any info you all have.

I haven't checked yet, but have you tried shopping AAFES online? MAYBE (if the store manager is cooperative) you could even try a special order. It might mean you'd have to "pay first", but it could be worth it, and open up possibilities. I try to order as MUCH as I can on-line anyway. It's usually MUCH cheaper, even including postage than what the BX can come across with.

Don't use carpeting, but I would look into bamboo matting. The humidity is awful, and unless you run air-conditioning 24/7, your place is going to smell really bad.

If you get really, really, really desparate, you can use the foam children's mats under the carpet, if it isn't wall-to-wall carpeting.

True, and if you really insist on carpeting you're probably better off without the carpet pad under it to trap moisture.

Now that they've mentioned it a couple times, I actually thought about the carpet thing. We have carpet area rugs, like 6' x 9' things without padding under them. They don't smell funny simply laid over the hardwood floors. My parents' house here used to have carpeting, and come to think of it, it smelled musty. What kind of carpeting do you have?

Did you ask the manager at the furniture store if they would order it in for you? Often if you ask...they will do it, but you may have to wait 2-3 months.

I'm pretty sure Foster's Furniture has carpet pads. I could be wrong, but it's worth a look.

Where do I start from all the responses? I am putting carpet almost wall to wall in the house bec of the landlords negotiation to have our dog stay with us. Two of the rooms I would like to have padded (comfort thing) and one room with tatami is going to have the tatami cover(the easy part).
I bought two carpets from Foster and asked if they could order the pad, I hope you already know there answer. They do not deal with padding and cant order it.
The other parts of the house will have some area rugs and soft wood coverings.
I thought about the sponge squares but remembered a bad childhood memory in a bounce house and decided against it. Just joking, I priced out the squares on and off base. It will be a last resort thing.
I wasn't aware of the musty problem and may rethink the padding. Just kick a guy when he's down.
Thanks for the input.
