Friend of mine is looking for the Stage 2 book for the Japanese written driving test. Any ideas I can pass on as to where to find one?

I don't know about a stage 2 book, but I have drivers manual that I got from JAF. And you're welcome to it. I was going to say don't sweat the written test portion, since there was a young blond lady from Yomitan who failed it miserably.

10 simple questions. You just have to remember that we drive on the left side of the road over here.

But tell your friend to attend a course at a local driving school before he goes to take the test. It's the driving portion that most people have a problem with.

If he's interested, send me a pm, and we can set up a meet somewhere.

Thanks Bones. My friend is starting from scratch (no previous drivers license) so he has to take the long written test. He is going to go to driving school.

Wow, he's never had any kind of drivers license? From any state? Or has he just never held a SOFA license before?

Either way, anytime that you try to obtain a Japanese license, you should try to take a few classes with a local driving school. One of my biggest problems , was swerving in the direction of the turn that I was preparing to make. And a lot of local driving schools on the island offer 1 hr. familiarization courses for about 5000 yen.

Even the 100 question test is not hard. I had to get a license over in Germany, so international traffic signs are etched into my mind. The written tests, either of them are very simple. You just have to keep in mind that when you are driving over here, you are driving in the left lane.

But pass my best wishes on to your friend, and I hope that he'll be getting his new license soon.
