Hello all,
We just arrived to the Island only a month ago. I have a 2 year old daughter and of course my other child my husband.
I go to college online at least that keeps me busy and of course the daily house chores of my daughter. Just too hot outside during the daylight hours to run and play.
Other than that... I am stuck to my computer as it is only a reach away. YAY for that!

Hi devine,
Hope you can make some friends to relieve the boredom. You know there is a great beachside park in Chatan, almost across from Camp Foster, where you can take nice morning and afternoon getaways while your husband is at work.
Since it is summer vacation now, there are a lot of little kids, toddlers included who romp in the ocean and play in the sand there. Why not go there and try to strike up some conversations with other mothers, be they U.S. or Japanese? Beats staying home all day.
But if you do stay home all day, keep coming back to the forums for talk. At least you probably have AC. I don't use it, so the heat doesn't make my posting time here so pleasant.
Good luck.

Thank you for the Welcome, I will have to check it out. I am near Camp Courtney with no car. So traveling around to some of the off base places is a bit hard. No way I want to wake up at 545 am to take the husband to work. LOL
Thanks again!

If you can meet a few neighbors or friends you can caravan around, just contribute to gas.
My 3 kids & my friends 2kids doodle here there and yonder together.
It was fun for us Mom's to have adult interaction & the kids all loved hangin out.
Throw a free ad in the JU classifieds for looking for other Mom's in your area to get together and caravan....or looking for seasoned traveler to show you and kids around.
Sometimes the guys can set up a ride to/from work with a friend or near by co-worker, seen them ride bikes to work too. Even if it is once a wk or once a month so you don't have to always be feelin "stuck"
Bad enough to be transitioning and feelin stuck on a tiny island where you know no one, but to feel like you are stuck at home can compound things.
Check the base bulletins, family support, library, tower announcement boards etc for schedule activities they have coming up. You might find a few things of interest to get involved in.
(one bit of advice.....it is a SMALL world and a really small island, don't gossip!!! It never fails to come back and bite you in the @$$!!!! If you have a disagreement w/someone, keep it to yourself & do what you can to forgive/move on {even if they chose not to})

Currently with DeVry but looking at switching to UMUC. I have an appointment to speak with them. Devry is just to hard to contact while I am here.

I was with Devry for many years. I liked them much better than UMUC, but I understand why you want to switch!

It's really not that bad. It's quite easy at least for me. Somethings are just to easy and I over look them like my computer class now. I been working with the Microsoft office 2007 for so long they want me to revert back to 2003 version. So my brain can't function at times.
I have an appointment to speak with an adviser with UMUC but not sure what course to take. I have everything all set up through DeVry I don't like change to much.
I will have to check out Troy U to see if they offer Business Admin, I am sure they do but who knows.
I am 31 years old starting over again... and again. So I would like to stay on track and not get off track. IF you know what I mean. Maybe I should joined the service... UMMM NO! not for me.

Ewww, that doesn't sound like much fun at all. :crying:

You should talk to my wife if your new to the island...she needs to make some friends(outside of our neighbors) we have a 4 month girl. I'm not gonna say anything else outside of that. I'll tell her about ya and maybe ya'll can become friends or something like that. Meh i'll leave it up to her basically.

I know you said you dont have a car, but like others said, try to find ppl around you that maybe you could carpool with. When I was here last time with my kids, we hit so many of the little parks around out in town. Some of them are hidden, but really not hard to find, lots of fun though. There is a Discovery Zone type place heading down towards Naha (bit of a distance from you, but only one that i know of). I dont remember the name of it, Monkeyplace or something, had monkeys on the sign anyway:)

I am soooo surprised (and relieved) that there hasn't been some other types of responses to this title...like what would have happened on the old board! (use your imagination!)

LOL, i think i can imagine though, when i first seen the title, I was like...damn, that is bold!

Here is a link to MCCS with lots of discount tickets to various places. Mona Kids Jungle is the place I was thinking. Not sure if there is only one, but it is a fun place to go.
