The age old question of "How do I get to ... ?" will no longer plague us here! Tada!! Just ask your direction question here and wait patiently for an answer. If no one responds within 24 hours, no one knows how to get there... or the place you want to go doesn't exist in this reality, because we're a bunch of know-it-alls. :p

Those answering direction questions, please answer in English and include maps preferably in English also when possible. Thank you! :D

Does anyone know how to get to The Body Shop? I know theres one in Naha but I have also heard there is one off of the 85 in the Jusco. Is there more than 1 Jusco on the 85? i know where the one is that used to have the housing store in it. Thank you in advance for any help!

There's only one Jusco on the corner of Routes 85 and 33. I don't know if they've moved a Body Shop into the place though. Good luck with your search though. :)

My wife took me to an AEON mall about 12km down the toll road coming from Kadena and heading toward Naha. It has a body shop in it. It's right off the toll road. I'm sorry I don't have any detailed directions, but yeah it's there

I believe there is one in the Haebaru jusco in Haebaru, same one you're talking about Rossi. To get there get on the expressway and head south towards naha. Once you get on the expressway stay on it until the Nishihara JCT exit. The expressway will split, left goes to the Nishihara JCT and right goes to the Naha exit. Make sure you stay left and go though the toll gate at Nishihara JCT. You'll have to pay toll here, it should be 450 yen from the Okinawa minami entrance. Go though the toll gate and get off on the first exit which is the Haebaru kita exit. You should be able to see the big ass jusco by now and once you get to the light go right and bust a u turn to get into the parking lot from the little side street running underneath the express way. The body shop is in this jusco, near the supermarket IIRC.

This is a little late, but I'm heading out of Tomari Port tomorrow morning...not entirely sure how to get there.

I know it's south on 58 and there will be a sign pointing it out to the right, but about how far is the drive from Kadena Gate 1?

I'm notorious for completely missing my exit so a time estimate would be nice so I know when we've been driving too long.

The streets down in Naha freak me out more than visiting Chicago ever did.:scared:

I tried googling this but I can't read any Japanese and I'm not that great of a googler. ; ;

Sorry and thanks for hasty replies :P

It is pretty hard to miss Tomari Port. Pass the intersection for Makabi after you leave the long overpass from Urasoe. A landmark to watch for just before you get to Tomari Port is a tall building with a sign that says "Agre" in English (a local magazine). Shortly after there is a big building on 58 on your right at the intersection of Rte 29 called TOMARIN (except it might be written in kana - sorry abt that...). You can actually see the boats and ferries from 58, so just take a right turn into the port. It is quite small and there is no danger of not finding whatever you are traveling on.

Ooooh thanks ever so much. Very helpful. :)

If I could thank you twice I would, okisteve. Or maybe thrice.

I have a picture of the ticket place for Queen Zamami, the boat. Was just concerned about the port itself.

I wish I had been introduced to JU forums earlier. :D

Does anyone know how to get the the Forest Adventure Park? I'm coming from Foster if you know where that is. I heard that you take 58 North but that's about all I have. Thanks.

P_chan
09-12-2008, 11:31 AM
Take 58 north to onna. Just stay on 58 until you see the sign tell you to turn left for Madea Point, turn left here. The rennesiance hotel should be at the signal you turn left at. Continue down this road and keep and eye out for the forest adventure park sign on your left hand side. The office for the park will be on your left hand side and there will be a sign on the building. It's easy to find if you get on the right road, and this is the easiest way to get there IMO. Just go into the office and ask if they have enough open reservations to let you go though the park. You can call in advance, but you might want to find the place the day before so you don't get lost and miss your reservation.

I just showed up on a saturday around noonish and I didn't have a problem. Depends on how many people are going. I only had four people, including myself, in my group. I think you'd be fine if you just showed up but you never know.

I'd advise against takeing a MCCS tour there. It's really not rocket science and easy to get to. They speak enough english for you to go though the park so you'll be fine.

Where is the Okinawa Civic Hall located? How is parking?

P_chan
09-27-2008, 02:51 PM
I know where the okinawa city hall is, but I've never been there so I don't know the exact directions. I know if you go straight out gate two and pass the four corners you can see it if you look to your left down one of the streets. It's actually a fairly large building and not easy to miss. Wait you are talking about the city hall right?

I know I've heard people talk about this place before but I can't remember the name. It's manga something and I know I've asked about it before but can't remember where. I know it's in the awase area and you get to it by going straight out the foster legion gate. Anybody know what place I'm talking about? If you do, do you know how to get there?

P sorry but the city hall and civic center are two different places.

The civic center is located across from Kadena Air Base.

Go out Gate Two, take a left at the lights and get onto Hwy 85 go north to the 2nd lights and take a right. It will be on the left right in front of you. Its the grey area on the map that has the kanji 沖縄市民会館 Otherwise known as the Okinawa City Civic Center.

I think I know the city hall you're talking about. Pretty large, 2 years ago I saw some Okinawan kids breakdancing out front. My and my friends just went up and watched, coolest thing we saw in a long time.

P the Okinawa City Office is out Gate Two past the 4 corners intersection, otherwise known as the Goya Intersection, go straight past the police station on your right for about 200 meters or so and take a left right before the Koza JHS which is on your right. There are signs posted in English on the road as well.

Are you talking about Manga Soko, which is the buy anything place in Awase near the Okinawa Sogo Park?

Go like you said go out the Foster Legion Gate and go straight down through the Toguchi Intersection at Hwy 329 and keep on going straight like you are going towards the ocean. Follow the road along the ocean for about 1 to 1 1/2 kilometers or so past a Coco's Conbini and Manga Soko will be on your left.

ate there last night. Tonkotsu ramen (milky broth, made from boiling pork bones that have been broken to expose the marrow) is a champ there. Fried rice is good, gyoza is just OK. Self serve barley tea and water. friendly staff, picture menus for those that need them. It's great in the winter.

I'm also a fan of the ramen place behind Obbligato and Krishna's, been going there since before that had a roof.

I just got on island a while ago, and to my misfortune, upon getting on island my PS3 crapped out, something about an overheating problem (I can only play it for about 5 minutes). Obviously it's a fan issue, but I'd like to avoid spending about 100$ sending it back to the states for repair (let alone all the running around I'll have to do just to get it sent there). I was wondering if there was a Sony store somewhere offbase that I could possibly get it looked at/fixed, or that just sells something that will cool it.
