There are pick and pull junkyards in okinawa but good luck finding a sr20det in one of them. Most of the good stuff gets pulled pretty fast. I'm sure you could go to one of the local garages and ask them if they could help you find one. I'd imagine that would be easier than looking for one yourself, but I'm no expert on the subject.
As far as TMO goes, not sure. I heard that if you break apart the engine and ship it piece by piece it's ok. But once again, I'm not an expert on the subject.

Dude, you'd probably be better off picking up one once you get back here. They're all over the place over here (states). And they ship them over here by the container.......unless you can get a smokin' deal on one, then have it shipped by the military. You can probably get one here in L.A. for around $1500.

With trans, ECU, wiring harness and other things, starting at $2K........that's probably the better deal. You know, the later S15's SR-20DET is rated at 250 H.P., has a ball-bearing turbo and uses a 6-speed trans too, IIRC.

Shipping this motor can be done via TMO. If you do a real good search, you can find this info.
Bottom line is that it's a real pain in the ass, and has to be done in small pieces, totally clean, boxed, packaged and marked as something else.
Unless you have access to a large work area, lots of tools, and are willing to spend a lot of time, AND the engine you are shipping is worth it- rebuilt bottom end, all the racing parts, etc.- it aint worth it.
But yeah. It can be done. I'd spend the 2K in the US, but buy some of the parts here- engine internals, electronics, etc. then put it together in the US.

I might be a little late on this, but I'd rather save you tons of money and visit www.zeroyon.com and ask around. I just bought a redtop for $600 plus the ECU and Wiring Harness.
