I have a question of if my friend is allowed on base or not. She has lived in Japan 90% of her life, but she is Vietnamese. She said she isn't allowed and is afraid to try. She is very shy so she doesn't even want me to try. Everyone i asked doesn't know. So is it try that since she is Vietnamese she isn't allowed on base?

Thanks

If she is a citizen of Vietnam, she is not allowed on a base without the approval of the camp/base commander. I know this from personal experience.

i believe she might be dual citizenship. she lives in Tokyo, she is just here to visit my fiance. Her drivers license and everything like that is Japanese, but i believe it says on there that she is Vietnamese.

If she is a Japanese citizen, then she can probably be signed onto the bases as any other Japanese citizen. Someone needs to check her passport. Simply put: Vietnamese citizen = (HELL) NO, Japanese citizen = DEFINITE MAYBE. heh.

Depends on the base I suppose. Some bases will let you sign someone on with only a driver's license or some other basic form of picture ID.

Depends, a friend of mine is married to a girl who's a japanese citizen and she's half okinawan and half taiwanese. Her father is a citizen of taiwan and normally isn't allowed on base. But once she was giving birth on lester they made and exception, but I'm not sure if he still had to get command approval.

Of course it makes sense to not allow any citizens of country X because all of their citizens are terrorist:rolleyes:

well if she is vietnamese, she cannot become a japanese citizen, or any other country.

So, if you're vietnamese, you are basically screwed in this world? why? they let iraqi's get citizenship.

Vietnam is still a Communist government country. This makes access to a U.S. military base difficult for a Vietnamese citizen.

A Vietnamese citizen can become a U.S. citizen just like anyone else.

Most of the gate guards are so incompetent. Just put her in the trunk and sneak her on like all the PFC's do.

Just take her to the love hotel...what's so special on base anyways?? If I didn't have to work here, I'd never come!

But seriously, what's the worst they could say? "No!" 'Hell No!" It ain't like they can deport her...I mean, she's not an illegal or nothing is she?

Something smells fiiiiishy!

wow this is getting a little out of hand. First of all she's not my girlfriend at all so why would i be taking her to a love hotel or anything like that? she is a friend of my fiance and mine. my fiance is japanese and they have been friends since they grew up. I was just wondering because i like to bbq and things like that on base and they would like to come. Also we are trying to plan an okuma trip and well things are just easier if i can take her on base the right way.

Ok, smart ass, then why don't you just call the front gate and ask them? Seems like that would be the common sense thing to do rather than getting some secondhand hearsay info off these forums. Is that helpful?

Ask a dumb question, get a dumb answer.

Lolz, just ignore the comments...

If you want an Expert opinion ask the legal office as well as pass and I.D. so you don't have to sift through the #$#@.

If you want a sexpert opion ask Otis.

P.S. I'm still waiting for a picture

Don't ask a question like this in a forum, you'll just get opinions and usually very little good info. You need to ask the people below.

Army: 644-4715
Marine: 645-2969
