I'm a big fan of The Pitbull. Too bad he left UFC and went to Affliction. It would be pretty cool to meet him though. He's facing Josh Barnett in his next fight and he is a freakin monster. If AA wins he gets to fight Fedor(baddest man on the planet) next for the WAMMA title.

Dude.....UFC is going downhill fast. Old UFC was the bomb, but Dana White has completely ruined the purity of the sport. These guys are fighting in a way that will make the most money, so you're seeing a million rematches, and too many close, long, drawn out fights because thats what pays.

WHAT??? MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world thanks to the UFC and Dana. The old UFC was no rules which is cool with some people but was banned pretty much everywhere in the U.S. and was style vs style and now is actual MMA and is considered a legitimate sport. UFC is what brought purity to the sport. There are never more than 2 rematches in the UFC and they are what tons of MMA fans want to see. The reason the matches are longer is because you have the best talent in the world fighting each other unlike all the other orgs which the fights are very mismatched. The only thing Affliction has over the UFC is maybe the HW division other than that no one can touch the UFC. Affliction is already in financial trouble after the first show because they paid their fighters too much but now they have Donald Trump backing them. Don't take my post the wrong way, I'm not jumping on you. Just clarifying some things :grin1:

I used to LOVE old UFC, and maybe its because the fighters I grew up with are pretty much all retired, so that was kind of the end of an era, but UFC is just so different now. I know that it has helped make MMA a more accepted and highly popularized sport, but the wide spread commercialization has also caused a lot of the PASSION to leave the cage.

Tank Abbot still fights sometimes and he's the reason I started watching it back in 95 :D Royce Gracie is still fighting too but they can't hang with the new guys. It would be pretty cool to see alot of the original guys have their own fight night. Yeah, I know what you mean about the commercialization. Back in the day there were so few people who even know what it was but at least now we get a ton of fights per month with all the different orgs now.

I think the UFC is doing what it should be doing. Getting rid of fighters that don't finish fights. Arlovski, Tim Sylvia, Tito. Those guys were boring to watch in their later years. The fights that they have now are quicker, faster and more explosive. Affliction with Arlovski = BORING. The new UFC is way better than old UFC.

Have you gone back to watch those old fights? Its painful.

I think I'm going along with Snuff on this one, as far as Arlovsky is boring now.....at least the last 2 or 3 fights I saw him in were just SLOW......and he actually apologized at the end of the fights to the audience and said that "next time, it'll be better" or something to that effect. You don't watch an Arlovsky fight, you ENDURE it......and Tito DID suck in the last fight I saw him in too.

*Edited to note: I've also gotten a strong feeling that some of the UFC fights of late have been drawn out, and I remember thinking "WTF!......that dude coulda finished him right then & there!......what's up?!!"

Tito is going to Affliction now too... UFC is weeding out the fighters that can't hack it anymore and sending them elsewhere...

Just watched Brock Lesner dominate Heath Herring.......that was sweet!......even though Lesner looks like he doesn't know what the hell he's doing, he's a freakin' punisher!.........OMG, Herring didn't have a chance!

And GSP turned John Fitch into mincemeat......I was surprised, it was barely even a fight!

The ONLY best fighter they have is Fedor. All the others weren't doing so well. AA had boring fights, Tito wasn't winning anymore, Tim lost to Big Nog. The only one they really have that is great is Fedor. He didn't go to the UFC because they wouldn't agree to the ridiculous stuff he asked as part of his contract.

Luckily the 3 guys I picked won their fights, GSP, Lesnar, Florian. Got me a lot of points on my MMA Forum :)
