30 sq cm? I'd bet, and I've said it elsewhere, this tard used a plastic bottle. Just my guess though...

Hmmm, wonder how many black bikes there are here on Oki.

Meh, oh well. I suppose there are worse things that could have happened!

Saw the article in the local paper. I don't think that they mentioned Okinawa. It just said that the US Embassy in Japan was fire bombed.

"A firebomb was tossed into the U.S. Consulate compound here early Monday, causing little damage."

Thoughts? Opinions? Insight? Like I care?

Japan has now proved it has WMD. The US should attack as quickly as possible.

The firebomb, described as a "Molotov cocktail" — a glass bottle filled with a flammable substance and a rag wick at the mouth— landed on the lawn near a concrete stage at the rear of the consulate compound, the police spokesman said. The fire charred a 30-square-meter portion of the lawn near the back gate, he said.

So which is it 30 square meters as per S&S or is it 30 square centimeters as was reported by the local news? There is a bit of a difference between the two.:D

Hmmm... even this source says 30 square centimeters.
A Molotov cocktail was thrown into the garden of the U.S. Consulate General in Urasoe, Okinawa Prefecture, early Monday but there were no injuries or damage to the building, police said.

The explosive hit the concrete of the garden behind the building and burned 30 square centimeters of the nearby lawn at around 1:15 a.m., according to the police investigation.

Perhaps S&S should read this (http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesTip/Making-Sense-of-the-Metric-System.id-871,subcat-MATH.html).

I'm glad we weren't there. I know it was a small fire in the backyard, so to speak, but it's still a fire. I doubt it was centimeters or just a kid being a kid. I care, because the US Consulate is a place we've been going to often recently. It's also enough of a representation of the U.S. for someone to fire bomb it. Those aren't made on a fluke or whim. I doubt the Japanese police will do anything about investigating it though, because (thankfully) no one was injured by it.

Just think what the Office of Homeland Security would do to these guys if they get ahold of them!

Crap...I'm probably in trouble for just typing out their name now!

30 square centimeters is about the sideways profile of a pack of cigarettes. I think even the kinder, gentler Okinawan type of firebomb makes a bigger impact than that.

Yeah its small alright and on the news reel it looked pretty small. But it did not look like 30 square meters(322 square ft) of scorched lawn. Maybe the perp used one of those airplane/sample sized bottles.:)
