Well for the 6th year in a row I have put off searching for a Weber charcoal grill until 2 weeks before we leave for our annual trip.

So does anyone know where I could buy a charcoal Weber grill? Yes, it must be a Weber. I was just going to give up and buy one here and have it shipped from Chicago but it is a major pain and will be very costly.

We have bought 3 different grills locally over the past years and all of them were crap. I am hopeing someone here has a solution.

Thanks
Joel

I got my Weber from Costco up in Tokyo. That was many years ago. I don't see one now on the website, but the stock changes often...

I have seen them around Okinawa here and there. Try Makeman, Big 1, and all the little shops in between.

I saw one (silver) in Sakamoto (?) a few months ago when I was looking for a grill. There are also often some for sale in JU.

BTW, I ended up with a nice all stainless double grill from that store, not the Weber.

Well I guess I just have'nt looked around enough. I will try those again. I did try Makeman with no luck last Summer. Our big BBQ is August 9th so I do have some time.

Trust me, I really could care less but its my wife who does the cooking, here and there. Now where to find good inexpensive meat???

Thanks

You would think that I should know all of this from all these years living and visiting. I really don't do anything when we go but vacation and relax.

I guess that we really want more "American type" beef. Thick cuts of beef not that thin sliced stuff.

I wish there was a Sams club or Costco on Okinawa!!

Thanks
Joel

Don't have any friends that can buy for you on base?

The key word would be "friends".

My only friend and former associate is a older retired Okinawan base worker. We always have base access but no PX. He has many friends but I do feel funny about asking. Its really not even a money issue, except for shipping one over which is just silly now that read the customs stuff. I just do not want to ask. But it would be nice to shop for one afternoon and drop a few hundred on meat and a grill.

Thanks

How big of one are you looking for?

Shipping a big one could be a big pain in the buttocks!

Its hard to find grills on this side of the world already (downsizing their summer season stock) but maybe family could pick you up a small one and ship it over?

maybe daniela will be of help.....or you get a local JU person to feel for ya enough & they will help ya out ??? Who knows.

Could always put an ad in the classifieds that you are looking for one. I know when we moved we gave ours away.

Good luck finding one in time!!!

Everytime I walk to hard reef in sunabe I notice a store that sells grills a few buildings down from hard reef. Don't know if they have any webers, but it might be worth a look.

Sakamoto home stores. They are all over the island. They stock some Webers and have a better assortment of local style grills and assorted BBQ stuff than Makeman or Jusco.
