That one was longest and strongest I have felt here, of coarse I've only been here a year. Have had one that good since I was in Oregon. I couldn't get the little guy of the coach. He said it was fun and he was surfing. Of coarse my daughter was freaking out. 15 year olds always over react. For the surfers that should of helped the waves for at least a little while.

I was at home as well. Probably the longest one I've ever experienced over here, but I didn't panic. Had our fridge tipped over, that would have been different. Not as bad as the one the we endured back in '88 tho. There was some damage to base housing near the Burger King, over on Kadena.

The old lady felt it and asked me about it when I got home (Am.V). I was coming home in the car and didn't feel anything.
As I recall, we had one around this time last year, too. I remember cause my parents were here. I think it was like early August.

As posted by okisteve:
OMG! Not Burger King!
I can't remember if BK was there back then, or was just being built. If it had been wrecked, I would not have shed any tears.
Most of the damage occurred in the housing area where the BK is currently located at.
Minor structural damage, and my boss lost a lot of money on his personal belongings back then. His entertainment center fell over, a tree fell on his car, etc....
Back then, I was residing in a dormitory, just up-hill from gate 5. It felt like someone picked up the barracks one end, and put it down again. Probably lasted less than 30 seconds or so.

The strongest one I felt was back on Sept. 29, 2004...I remember the date because I was in labor with my daughter...labor and earthquake just don't go well with oneanother. I think it was around an 8 on the scale. Will have to look it up.

sorry i have felt alot cannot remember dates but the strongest one and longest one I experienced was in Nagoya ,
Third floor in Hambi, was on the shitter, kept on going but was holding the wall and imagining the building coming down around me and me landing still on the shitter pants down on a pile of rubble that used to be my building. Could've been a great pic for the news.......

I guess it all depends where on the island you are and what you are doing at the time. The earthquake was off the western side of the island ( I live on the water) and I was sitting at the dining room table. Watched my water start rocking... dead give away :)

Same thing here, I live near the shore. I also live in a high rise and I was laying down at the time. I tend to feel them more often once I'm lying down. Wife was in the same room standing up and didn't feel anything. Didn't believe me until the little blurb about the earthquake came up on the tv.

After a nice evening/morning of cruising the 'net, I didn't wake up until NOON today (Sunday), and didn't feel a THING here on the mainland. Yokota's all about the Friendship Festival this weekend...rainy and chilly as it has been. MAYBE it WAS felt here, but I've just been around so long (25+ years), I failed to notice it.
