FedEx question

Okay, how does the FedEx thing work here on Okinawa. I searched past forums and didn't see anything about it. A few days ago, I asked a friend of mine in the states to mail something to me and I told her to just send it via USPS because I didn't know how FedEx works here. She emailed me today and said that she sent it using FedEx, sighh. I know that there is a FedEx Express service in the concession mall, but that's mainly for 1 to 2 day shipping of documents. I'm a little nervous about this, because I really need what is in that box, haha!

I would hope that she gave them your physical address...if so, then it shouldn't be a problem. She should have at least given them your phone #.

FedEx delivery works pretty much the same as in the US.

That is why I'm worried. I cannot get ahold of her and I have a bad feeling she shipped it FedEx to my APO box. I also hope that she listed a phone number.

Just found out that she tried to ship it Fed Ex but they wouldn't let her since it was to an APO address thank goodness. But still, it's good to know how the FedEx thing works (or doesn't work) here.

Have her use DHL to your quarters.

You need a physical address with a zip code to receive FedEx, UPS or DHL mail here. You could have a coworker of your husband's who lives off base receive it for you. Otherwise, Express mail through USPS is your only option.

We do live off base, but I had not given her my actual physical address b/c I assumed she was sending it regular mail to my APO. She ended up sending it USPS after all, when Fed Ex informed her that they don't ship to APOs. So me not having a clue about shipping methods over here only caused me a day or so of stress, haha. All resolved now though! Thank goodness.

FEDEX: let's use Kadena for an example, you need to know your zip code maybe from a bill or something off base.

(NAME OR UNIT NAME if on base)
(BASE or TOWN)
(Building# or Address)
Kadena Cho, Okinawa, Japan
904-0000

This will get you FEDEX on Kadena air base or in Kadena.
