What food do you make it a point to eat daily or quite regularly for health benefits that researchers or nutritionists claim they have properties for improving or safeguarding health?

Not for sure, but perhaps breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. In any case, every morning I eat oatmeal with blueberries, a banana, raisins, walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds added to it.

After that I wash it down with a glass of orange juice.

How about you?

I try to drink one of those little Yakult yogurt drink (the little plastic bottle with the red foil top) things every day or eat a thing of fruity Yoplait. This only started recently, since being pregnant. I was never especially a healthy person. These days, I eat what I crave and what stays down.

About 10 yrs ago I, too, used to drink those things about once a day. But after a while, I started thinking they had way too much sugar in them. Very sweet tasting -- or at least the ones I drank 10 years ago were.

A little old local woman told me those drinks were good for digestion and other such internal plumbing functions. heh. Even my husband has taken to drinking them.

I eat about 3 kiwi's every day, and there is this ume drink that I drink every day. My mother in law sends them to me, saying that they help with internal energy flow and what not. I also eat bran almost every morning along with yogurt, and I eat seseme on my rice at every meal. Seseme is good for liver function.

Kiwi is very healthy. Do you eat the skin, too? I do, but my wife and her family think I am crazy for doing so.

I don't eat it as much as I used to. But, perhaps I will begin to do so again.

Have never really gotten into ume drink. Though, I do like umeboshi in the middle of a triangle onigiri.

This summer we have gotten into making smoothies on a regular basis. We use frozen fruits w/no added sugars in place of ice in OJ or milk typically. Though we recently came across this product called JET smoothie and we have been adding that with a splash of juice for base. Taste just like a jamba juice or the like w/o the cost.

In general though, we just strive for a balanced diet. I get too bored with eating a set thing all the time, so I am forever changing up the sources of our nutrients.

One thing I do consume every day is a supplement called Monavie (1oz twice/day). It is a juice blend of 19 fruits that are extra high in antioxidents & such. Have noticed the most improvements with this than any other diet change I have ever made.

I heard that avocado is one of the healthiest veggies that you can eat, so try to eat a few of those with salad and sesame dressing quite often.

I sometimes drink that yakult, you can get one's which are not quite so sweet, a lady comes round once a week on her bike and I feel bad if I don't
buy it from her sometimes.

Ick, don't like avocados even a little bit. I like veggies but that is just one I don't care for. Think it is a texture more then anything that bothers me, though I don't like the taste either.

Oh, this is so true! Those Yakult biker ladies look so pitiful. I feel sorry for them, too. Whenever I see them I tempted to buy from them. I think part of their success must be that their training manual tells them to look worn and beat out so that potential customers will feel sorry for them.

One of our friends used to do that. She hated it.

tons of water... just because I'm always thirsty and drinking a lot of juice doesn't seem very healthy (because of the sugar).

I drink a glass or two of milk a day. I can't get enough of it. Though, I suppose that's canceled out by the couple of cookies I'll eat with a glass ;)

Water is good. Our bodies crave it.

Doesn't milk come from cows and meant for baby cows? <smile>

It does, however, it also helps provide calcium for our bodies (yes we can get calcium from other foods as well) it is believed to be one of the best ways to get the calcium and other nutrients INTO the bones.

Since becoming pregnant, well, okay, about five months after becoming pregnant, I have started drinking Boost everyday to not only help me put on weight, but also for all of the nutrients it has in it. Plus, she flutters when I drink it, that must mean she likes it, right?

Beer. It raises you good cholesterol, is good for the prostate and bones.

It's the nectar of the gods you know. :grin1:

When used to excess it becomes ignorant oil. The more you drink the dumber you get. :grin1:
