Hello,
I am a new member to this forum, I had read a couple of messages from new members and throught I could be part of this group.

I live in North America and have never visit the Orient, this would be my first trip. I would like to visit the South part of Okinawa. I have always been fascinated by the Japanese culture, while a student I lived with a senior couple, originally from Okinawa (Gushichan/Gushikami village). Heard their stories about their childhood and youth in Okinawa, they emigrated in the 30's. Later I had the opportunity to spend some time with a lady who left Okinawa in the 60's and heard more stories. Due to my early interest, I took some japanese lessons, and I can write Hiragana, (not much katakana), and only a couple of Kanji. I doubt this could help me when visiting Okinawa....I will see.

I would like to rent a furnished house/apartment big enough to house 6 people. If anyone could help me with info would be much appreciated.

I am very interested in visiting Okinawa this year and wanted to get to know more about its people, first hand. :)

Would welcome your comments, not sure if I will be able to respond right away, but will try to do it as soon as I can.

Thanks,

Hello!

We just found a company that provides extend stay housing sort of like a Marriott Residence Inn. They have weekly and monthly rates and rent apartments and houses.

We will be heading to Okinawa Thursday for our annual trip and I would be more then happy to get some information for you and let you know if its a good place and deal.
