Beaches. There are lots of Beaches. I always like to head out and go to a Beach I have never been to before. Or even go see the Beaches on the nearby Islands like Tokashiki, Zamami, Ie, or Yoron. Take a Ferry to them. Its fun.

Just take a decent map and drive. Bring some yen and sample a new restaurant. I have been here for years and still enjoy getting out and driving the island!

My husband and I don't have any kiddos yet, but we went with our sponsors and a few other families w/ kids after we got to Okinawa in late April to Nago Pineapple Park and then next door to Fruit Land (w/ a bird and butterfly garden). I think it was Fruit Land where we feed the birds.... jet lag was still in full swing, so not sure! But, the kids loved riding on the the little pineapple cart tour and there are some neat gift shops to look at as well.
We've also enjoyed just getting out and driving around the island to check out the beaches. We drove out to Ikei Beach a few weekends ago and it was pretty nice there. I heard that there's a neat summer festival w/ fireworks at Ocean Expo Park in July. We haven't been to Expo Park or the Aquarium yet, but are planning on it next month. :)

They opened the new jungle adventure in Yomitan. You get a harness and swing through the tree tops via zip line and other fun stuff. There is a minimum height of 4' something and a maximum weight of 135 kg.

Here is the original thread with a link to the story. It's in Onna, not Yomitan.

It's a technicality. Whoever tries to find it will see why.
Sorry though.

If you go to the pineapple park you should stop by pizza in the sky for lunch - - sometimes we make the drive all the way up north just for this place! the food is great and the view is awesome.
