Well over here in japan I would pick a toyota, nissan, or honda.

In the states I would keep it the same, maybe drop nissan because I don't like their american cars. It wall depends on what your looking for! The only american company I still like is chevy but they don't have anything out right now I really like enough to buy, except the corvette and the coming camaro.

I was pretty much thinking that as well, just thought maybe someone that new more about cars might be good to check with. Always nice to have good input to be equipped with when going out.

I know many of the Japanesse cars over there when we were, were the same as the US had, just different names.

If you need just something for yourself and one other person I would consider a mazda 3. I don't know I've always been a fan of those little small cars. Of course I would choose the hatchback over the sedan, I don't like the sedan. The new mazdaspeed 3 has got a turbo charged engine with 263 hp! I would love to have that and be spanking mustangs left and right and see the amazement on their faces once they get beat by a mazda hatchback!

Oh mazda is also a decent car brand in the states. Even if they are owned by ford now. The 3, and the 6 are nice, and of course the RX-8 is awesome!

If you want a small SUV then I would go for the honda CR-V. A chevy trailblazer would be a good mid size one, and the tahoe is a nice large SUV. Though I'm a big fan of the honda pilot as well! Once it comes to mini vans, I would take a honda odyssey or a toyota sienna. I just wish they sold the honda stream or the car like odyssey in the states, I would buy it in a second.

Yeah.....a two seater won't work. Unless my kids are gonna walk everywhere. LOL Or get tied onto the roof. :D Though to most that would be considered child abuse.

I kinda am leaning towards a car as I like to be able to zoom around with more ease that a big ol' long van or SUV.

A mazda 6, honda accord, nissan altima or maxima, toyota camery.

Those are fairly decent sized cars that should fit your needs. Depends on how many kids you have.

Looks like I am on the right track then!
Got three kids.
Several of the cars we get in and adjust the seats to our comfortable height then we load in the backseat with 2 adults and the oldest son to check that there is room to even breath. Seems to be a decent test.

At a car show there was these three teenagers lookin at this car and the boost asks them all to climb into the backseat & shut the doors for a good representation of our kids in a few yrs....and they DID it!! LOL the one kid looked happy when the girl climbed in next to him. Turns out It was too small unless the middle kid was about 4inches wide.

Volvo's aren't bad but they are kinda expensive.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I love the XC90! I also like the C30 and C70. If things go well, in about a year, I will have a XC90!

Check out this link to see their models...and their prices are not that bad...$30k-$40k on most models.

I like the S40, but the C70s are nice. I remember driving those at work and they smelled funny on the inside. Kinda like how the insides of VWs smell like crayons.

Well good to see they make more than just the wagon. :)
How is their durability? Reliability? Ease of repairs? I really know little to NONE about volvo.

I just bought new Volvo S60 last year and they aren't bad....definitely not boxy and not as expensive as you may think. I paid $24,500 for mine. Since the company is owned by Ford (until they get sold to BMW soon) the prices are pretty low. Mine actually cost less than a new Taurus and it is a much better car. It handles decently, enough power, available with AWD and the cops pay it no attention. It also gets great gas mileage for the size car it is and the trunk will swallow a small apartment. Add to that, the expensive looks. My father owns a new S80 and it is sooooooo sweet.

The car that holds the world's record for mileage and still running is a Volvo. I think the guy that owns it has 2 million miles on it. A Volvo isn't even really broken in until it has about 100K miles on it.

S40 is crap; especially if you get an early model. Ford tried to mess with it and ruined it. In 2005, Volvo got their hands back on the design and fixed what Ford had screwed up.

Stick with the imports, don't drive american cars!! We have 3 cars in the states: Honda, Subaru, Toyota, here in Okinawa we have Lucida and Gloria.

Depending on how old the kids are, and if they are in car seats or not. Do you plan on having more kids? When we have 2 car seats in the back seat of the cars my 11yr old daughter is either very squished or can't sit there.

The Altima in the states was very comfortable, lots of leg room, but it felt awkward sitting so far away from the drivers seat. We tried the volvo here in Okinawa, it was a tight fitting, too hard to get kids in/out of.

Honda Odessy - was pretty good we might by that one when we go back to the States!

My Grandma drives a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE, that has lots of room in it! The back seat was able to fit my Aunt and 3 - 11yr olds.

I know more about car parts than choosing the best car. My husband is a auto mechanic and knows all about cars!

No carseats- just 1 in a booster and that's cause I am overprotective. *smile*
our youngest is almost 6.
So not carseat room that is needed as much as leg room for growin kids.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate the input.

Parents have American made cars, they are consistently crap!!!
Personally have an import that is 11-12 yrs old and runs like a champ, doesn't even hiccup. So we figure best to stay with what we believe in.
