Just curious.. because I do, it has a calming effect on me. I was watching the birds in my bird feeder guard and fight over the birdseed! I'm still waiting to see a cardinal fly up or a bluejay. they're so pretty and interesting to watch. Maybe you could posts some variety of birds on here and their backgrounds. That'd be cool. :first::thumbup1:

My wife and I like watching birds. We are not serious bird watchers, but when we are in the yard or out somewhere, we will often see a bird and remark something about their color or song.
Okinawa has some pretty birds. I will try to remember to post some pics later.
Bird's are peaceful and I like to watch them but not with my wife. That's gay - in a good way. I wish I had a peaceful, gay, hanging in the yard together marriage. If mines not bitching about money or sleeping, she's working :(

Yes, I do. Not quite as much as watching fish, but it's still fun. It's like birds are in "hyper-drive"......especially hummingbirds. I feel slow motion like a turtle when I watch them. Throw one a french fry and then watch it fly away with it & hide from it's buddies.
Watching birds at the beach is even more fun.

Yeah, I like bird watching. Tall birds, short birds, Japanese birds, European birds, African birds, thin birds, curvy birds, young birds, mature birds, god I like watching birds.

Tall birds, short birds, birds that climb on rocks. Fat birds, skinny birds, even birds with chicken pox.

I used to watch them back home, but not so much here. I still try to watch them every once in a while.

Yes, I used to watch birds every morning but not since we moved to Oki. We have no place to hang feeders. I see more butterflies out my back window than birds so I watched them when I want to instead.
I love birds, I keep thinking about buying a bird feeder and maybe some wind chimes but I'm afraid a strong wind will send them flying. Hey! speaking of birds, are there hummingbirds in Okinawa?

I like watching interesting birds. Such as the endangered Northern Bird Dog (Fidoraptorius Poopus Maximus). Rarely seen other than to chase the Northern Cat Bird (Felineus Withus Wingus), and to take HUGE dumps on your car. Can be tamed and will chase sticks.

I spend hours watching them.
It took me ages to get a bird feeder, but now I have one it attracts loads of different birds. I have a little family of burrowing mice, who clear up what the birds drop. They're absolutely enchanting.
They never come into the house. I made them a little house, but they live underneath it

Here is a video of a hawk in Okinawa. I have seen these many times in the area where I live. The picture is not very clear but perhaps you can recognize the hawk's song -- which I hear even more often than I see the hawks.

Oh, and here is even a better vid with a close-up of the hawk. Beautiful.

I miss the cardinals. My pops had 20 some bird feeders just outside of the big pic. window in his kitchen. I always tried to have b-fast with him at least 2x a week, coffee mostly unless mom made bisc. and gravy, and we would watch the birds. Often, there would be a deer or two chowing on the dropped seeds. If not there, then the deer would be chatting with the horses. Alpha alpha draws them in too. Here in Oki, I love to see the cranes. Makes my heart run every time. Beautiful creatures.

I wasn't aware that there were cranes in Oki. Where have you seen them? Do you know what species of cranes they are?
I too love cranes. Their body language and behavior is so intricate. I used to take care of a lot of birds at my workplace but the cranes were by far my favorites. They are gorgeous birds. They are like the super models of the bird world.
