So, is it just my place or did AFN get hot with lightning or what? First my satellite went out, can't get anything but a blue screen saying "no signal". Then my antenna is going in and out mostly out - I normally wouldn't be too upset (it is AFN), but House is on ! I never had problems at my old apartment. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

It does that alot...even small storms will mess up AFN and Satellite Reception...not always...just sometimes.

I think the humidity is making everyone and everything a little cranky. Thank goodness it's finally raining.

The thunder is a really nice touch too.:) I love storms.

Lightning storms do indeed rock.

Yeah I noticed that the AFN signal was out. The "no signal" screen is my most favorite thing to watch on AFN!

You too? I like it because you don't get the usual AFN commercials. :argh3:

The lightning and thunder were awesome and since I am PCSing, I had no TV and no computer. The lightning show was much better!

Can someone explain how the most powerful fighting force in the history of the world can't keep a television or radio signal up during a thunderstorm, but yet the country we decimated with advanced atomic research can produce a clear, near-perfect picture?

Even the most primitive of frequencies - AM Radio, has taken over six months to get up and running - at half power!

And they wonder why why complain about three month old cable programs.:cursing:

Well let's examine that question. What type of AM single is being sent out? Setting up antennas and systems can take a little time if you want to do it right. Half power? Half power is all they really need to reach most of their audience I'd imagine. Also, if you constantly drive a circuit at full power, you'll burn it out a lot sooner then if you only push half power though it. Actually, right now you should get a better signal from the AM antenna. AM waves propagate further at night due to the thinning of the ionosphere. But then again I'm thinking radio waves from a large HF antenna. I have no idea how the antenna configuration is setup for the AM station.

On keeping it up in a rainstorm. Well, there is nothing we can do about mother nature. We've always been her bitch and we will continue to be her bitch forever. Storms mess with satellite signals and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

:edit: Oh yeah and lets not forget priorities and funding!

You could have skipped all the misinformation and left it at this, adding probable bumbling.

Or added that always awarding contracts to the lowest bidder isn't always the best approach.
