Looking for a bar to go celebrate my 25th bday this weekend. Any suggestions?
I like to go out dancing and drink, but don't know of any places...

Jon's Jon's is pretty good for drinking and hanging out....but if you want to dance, Saturdays at Eutopias is pretty good for dancing as well as Club Red, if you like that type of stuff.
I'd recommend hinotama hall down in Naha. The club is open to having American guests and everyone is extremely friendly. Not to mention, the DJs who play at hinotama hall are usually top notch. By far my favorite club on Okinawa. It has a good balance of Okinawans, Japanese foreigners, and Foreigners (American, European, etc). A lot of the Naha English teachers go there, so you'll never be the only caucasian (if you're caucasian).
What kind of music are you looking for though? Or does it not matter? Hinotama Hall is usuall techno, trance, one of several variations of house, bossa nova, etc. Not salsa.

I'll keep those places in mind. As for dancing..I like to dance to hip hop..something up beat.
I'm asian, but not japanese...

B-Greens in Naha, Eutopias on Gate 2, and Club Red on Gate 2 are the ones I can really think of....
Ah, I see. I guess the question is do you want to go to a place that's popular with Americans or a place that's popular with the locals. What roxy said would probably fit your tastes better than Hinotama Hall.

Yeah, all of those clubs/bars cater to more americans....however, if you want more japanese places, I wouldn't be too sure. I know though, there is a new club open in Mihama called 911, it's where Vientos used to be, I'm pretty sure more locals go there, but it's hip-hop, techno type deal. A couple of my buddies work there but they're guys who've been on island for ages! lol. I haven't had a real chance to go up there an check it out yet...but I heard it's a good club.

Thanks roxy...skyy. I've seen it...jusst haven't been there. Maybe one of these days I will check it out though. I don't know about the japanese clubs...I just don't want to go to one just yet cause don't know Oki to well yet and since I don't speak and understand the language.

I don't mind going to Japanese clubs when there is a good mix of American and Japanese friends with me. That way, I don't stand out, however my Japanese friends are there to help me out.
OH! OH! I just remember another place Psycholos(?) its in Naha as well. Most of my buddies go out to these places, I REALLY have to be in the to go though...bars are more my scene. I'm white so I try my hardest not to go out and dance, especially with alcohol in my system, that just leads to tragedy. lol.

I don't mind going to Japanese clubs and bars just that I need to make some jap friends so it would be easier for me to get around.
thanks...It's like I have all these places to check out now!! :)

Have fun on your birthday, you only have that chance once a year....make the best of it. :)
Let me know what day you're looking to go out and I'll try to let you know what's going on that day. :)

Hubby working late tomorrow...tomorrow is friday right? I hate not knowing the days cause I don't work. Well, we plan on going out on saturday night..that's what I told him.
Yeah, it's Friday tomorrow. Fastest week ever.
I don't have anything listed for Hip Hop for Saturday, but there is an all genre (trance/hiphop/etc) party at Hinotama Hall starting at 10pm. http://www.japanevents.jp/?id=65
Price is Y1,500 w/ 2 free drinks. If you need good directions, let me know and I'll try to post something. Or I'll get my wife to explain it.
I've gone to this party a few times and it was very high-energy. A lot of people, and they did a pretty good job of jumping between genres throughout the night. I was particularly surprised to hear Okinawan DJs playing Drum'N'Bass.

I guess your birthday has come and gone, but I would still make a suggestion here for next time.
On the 8th floor of the Kariyushi Hotel at Tomari Port, there is a Chinese resturant that is all you can eat buffet. Go there on a Friday or Saturday night and it is delicious...add to that you have a nice view of the East China sea and some of the city lights. You can also make it all you can drink for about Y1000 more per person. I think for two people, it would cost you around 6000 or 7000 yen. I've taken many friends there on their farewell dinner to Okinawa, and everyone loved it.
The only catch is that you must eat what you take. So they just don't want food being wasted. If you are unsure of something, only take a little bit, then if you want more, go back!
