Here above land man has laid his plan
And yes it does include the Klu Klux Klan
We gotta government so twisted and bent
Bombs, tanks, and guns is how our money is spent
Time now to take you to a different place
Where peace-loving whales flow through liquid outer space
Groovin and glidin as graceful as lace
Never losin touch with the ocean's embrace
Now back to the land of the policeman
Where he does whatever he says he can
Including hating you because you're a Jew
Or beating black ass, that's nothing new
That lyrical excerpt is from Green Heaven, an early Red Hot Chili Peppers song. They played a Sea Shepherd benefit back in 1986, and have been supporters of the warriors since even before.

Flea, Paul Watson, Anthony Kiedis
Captain Watson then presented the first Sea Shepherd "Rock the Boat" Award to Anthony Kiedis and Flea and the Red Hot Chili Peppers for 25 years of support. Anthony even wore the Sea Shepherd T-shirt that Captain Watson gave to him in 1986. Anthony very humbly accepted the crystal award and said he was there because of his love and support for Sea Shepherd.

What was the purpose of this post eele? Butt snorkeling TP, or trying to ride his coat tails into "shock and awe."
It does neither, but then I am sure he will appreciate his remaining posse member hooking him up.
I expect more originality from you.

While not music, documentary film maker Rob Stewert teamed up with Captain Watson to make the award winning "Sharkwater."
Win “Sharkwater An Odyssey to Save the Planet” (http://www.kingstonthisweek.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1040363)
Kingston This Week
The filmmaker tells the story of his effort to protect sharks, teaming up with renegade conservationist Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Their unbelievable adventure together starts with a battle between Sea Shepherd and shark poachers in Guatemala, resulting in pirate boat rammings, gunboat chases, mafia espionage, corrupt court systems and attempted murder charges, forcing them to flee for their lives.

Interesting that Capt Watson would take this 22 year old on with him to help create this film when Stewert knew nothing about film making at the time. It took 5 years to make. This interview is quite interesting.

I fvcking really dig the Chili Peppers. That they have alot to do with Ocean Awarenss and that just makes them cooler. I have been a member of the Surfrider Foundation (http://www.surfrider.org/default.aspx) since '90 (and have the IRS records to prove it lol). Any band that takes a political stand (even one I dont agree with) can be good. It can also be bad for thier fan base, but as long as they deliver a message and it makes them happy its cool. Bands can play music just for fun, or just for money, or even just to try and change the world (like in the '60s). Remember, it is the Bands songs, not yours. You either enjoy it or not.
This is one of my favorite verses, not from the Chili Peppers, but from another of my favs; Bad Religion:
To live a life of hostility
Never asking what it means
When mother nation
Blood and religion
Sanction killing upon the Fields of Mars
High above the Fields of Mars
Bad Religion "Fields of Mars (http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/bad_religion/fields_of_mars.html)"

Me too, man, me too. Reading Scar Tissue now, and came across the bit from RHCP playing the Sea Shepherd benefit back in the late '80s. Naturally, made me think about the forums here, and some of our discussions. Ass thinks I'm brown-nosing, but it all boils down to one of the coolest bands ever taking a stand for what they feel is right. Not forcing it on anyone, just saying what they feel, honestly and openly. It's up to the fans and public to receive the message or not. No pressure, just love and peace. Way cool!
:thumbup1:
p.s. Dig the Sharkwater flick and the Youtube vids
