YOKOHAMA -- A woman accused of killing her 19-year-old daughter in a Kanagawa Prefecture apartment where five bodies were found in May last year was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment in a ruling at the Yokohama District Court on Monday.
... lots of stuff ...
The ruling convicted Okamoto of strangling Rikako around October 2005 in the Hiratsuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, apartment of the teen's half-brother, Minehiro Yamauchi, who later committed suicide at the age of 35.
... lots more stuff ...
Okamoto, who was under mental pressure due to debts, decided to kill her daughter after she tried to restrain the teen when she tried to go out, but her daughter refused to listen to her, prosecutors said.
... some more stuff ...
Besides the bodies of Rikako and Minehiro, three other bodies identified as young children belonging to Okamoto were also found in the apartment, but their deaths were not followed up in court because the period for filing legal action had already expired. (Mainichi)
