I really enjoy reading newspapers. I know that since the internet they have been hemoraging readership, but I hope we will always have print media such as them.
Nothing like drinking tea, coffee, wine, or a beer either at home or at a restaurant with a nice newly printed newspaper.
How about you?
I enjoy the national and international sections most. I also enjoy the arts section when they list new books. Commentary and opeds are good as well.
Always read letters to the editor.
If it is a local paper, for some reason I have never gotten into reading obituaries.
Again, how about you? What sections do you enjoy?
I don't care what section I'm reading, I just like the... feeling. I guess.
It's like, you can't read a book in pdf format and appreciate it. It needs to be an actual book. At least for me.

I'm the same. I have to hold it and read it! (plus I don't have a pc in the bathroom!)

Do any of you have the problem with accumulating newspapers? When there is an interesting story in one, I usually let it stay on the table or on my computer desk, planning to get back to it because I want to show it to someone, or even discuss it on a forum, like here.
But, invariably what happens is, every edition has an interesting story and I get behind and they start piling up. Drives me crazy. Eventually I throw them away but I hate doing that because I know I had really wanted to revisit and talk about that story.
No, cutting out individual stories is not an option. Scissors always get misplaced and the time it takes cutting out just makes me put it off anyway.
Getting ready to throw out another bunch. Well, actually I use them for the floor on rainy days and let the dogs walk on them at the entrance to get the water sucked out of their feet before coming in.
Although I like newspapers better, I get most of my news off the web. At this time, we're not subscribed to a single paper newspaper.
I have a user's portal that I built for the other job I work at that goes out and grabs rss feeds from about 60 different locations every hour. So anytime I want to be distracted by a ton of news, I just check out my user's portal.

Yeah, it is strange. I also get a lot of news from the net, and then when I get my newspaper it is like I already know this stuff. But going over and reading it a second time makes the details stick into my memory a lot better. Besides, it really isn't that fun reading news on screen, so I tend to scan my net news real quick, but go more slowly with print news.

That is why I do not particularly care for newspapers. By the time they arrive, I have already read the articles that interest me on the net. The lag time for newspapers to be printed is a definite down side.

If it is a local paper, for some reason I have never gotten into reading obituaries.
Since losing a couple family members, there is this strange pull to skim through and make sure no one you have known at some point in time has died or lost someone. I don't read all the obits, I just skim through the names.
So far, I haven't caught anyone, but I know people that went to the last funeral we were part of came after seeing the obit in the paper. So lots of people do read them.
My Mom used to read them to watch for patients she had worked with.
I predominantly read our local paper for the local news, letters to the editor. Other news is off the net like you mentioned, by the time it hits print is is OLD news :).
