Some cool stereograms. There are a few ways to see the image. I usualy cross my eyes a little, then get close to the picture, then slowly move back till it starts to show. Here is another way:

1. Pick a spot on the picture (the middle seems to work best) and just stare at it.
2. Allow your eyes to relax, don't just stare AT the image, try to stare THROUGH it. You'll notice your eyes will go slightly out of focus. This is normal.

3. Keep staring, don't give up, once you begin to see the first image, it gets much easier.

Step 1.
Look through the stereogram imaging that it's transparent. Your eyes should be relaxed and not focused on stereogram. When your sight is blurred try to move closer and further toward the stereogram, and do it very slowly. At some distance you may notice something happens and blurry relief may start appearing behind your screen. It'll be blurry, the next step is to make it sharp.

Step 2.
Try not to switch your sight onto the image - look through it all the time. Hold your head horizontaly, don't tilt. Also try not to blink. It may take a little while until eyes focus properly by themself. Do not force it because you gonna switch to 2D image. Eventually hidden image will become sharp and clear like a reflection in the mirror.

If you see a hidden image but it looks inside-out, it means you cross your eyes. You need to diverge them instead. If you see doubled objects - it means you diverge them too much (doublefusion), try to refocus.

It may take a while, so be patient and do this couple of times with different stereograms. It really worth it!

You may experience some eyestrain and even headache at the first time. It's ok and won't hurt you. It's also a good exercise for your eyes' muscles.

The first time I ever did one of these, it took me a hellacious long ass time to get my eyes right & make it work......but I'm friggin' stubborn. It probably helped that I was staring & drinking beer for about a half hour too. I think once you get the technique, it gets easier......to me, relaxing and moving my focus in & out is what eventually does it.

Right on, Sex!!! I never knew what these things were called. Excellent!

another trick that works is to put your nose on the picture and slowly back away and try not to let your eyes adjust or move.

Stereograms <--------

if you find these horribly easy like myself - see the image within seconds, which can be really irritating (some tiled desktop backgrounds appear 3D - 3D shapes, like squares, you see the image 3d but at diff perspective) then you could have great depth perception. When I joined the AF, I had to do the depth perception test 5 times because it was very very easy and I saw the floating O's way too easy and they thought I was cheating.

Check this out.
