INDIANAPOLIS - ATA/Patriot Express Airlines has discontinued all flights and filed for bankruptcy. The Indianapolis-based airline says in a statement on its Web site Thursday that it became impossible to continue operations after it lost a key contract for its military charter business.

Looks like we'll be changing our flight plans for this month.... for only the 4th time now, ha! I'd rather fly commercial anyway and maybe now we can take the pets on the flight with us :)

Well since I get burned everytime I do it, there was already a post concerning that here (http://www.japanupdate.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5174)

But...ATA was such an awesome airline...HA! Good riddance!

Now, it's a game of Russian Roulette to see who gets the contract! The grass is always greener and all...

Well slickmetal, i was just trying to be helpful with this news in case there were others who had not heard. Didn't see the other one with the same subject. Maybe I should just read all these posts and never start my own

Easy mistake Carms...I've done it before too. When they don't show on the "front page" they can be easily missed by us less organized readers :o

I think I actually got the two threads confused.

yep its just the attitude of the mods who always want you to do a search before you post...since you cant use 3 letter words, it makes it hard in the first place.

Just mentioning it before your post gets deleted and you have no clue why. Has happened to me in the past for posting a double post about a subject...or others using being dicks and saying "old news" or your too slow.

just a heads up. I wasnt trying to be a dick or rude :)

Carms,
your post was actually really helpful to me as it made me put two and two together. I was not aware that ATA had the contract for the Patriot Express. My son has to be Stateside the end of this month and I was planning on putting him on AMC Space A.
Your post helped me realize what was going on.
I was able to secure a commercial ticket today before the real rush started and prices go up. Kadena ITT said it has been crazy the last 2 days with a bunch of people trying to get off the island that were going to fly AMC.
So, thanks!!!

My wife was supposed to come home via Patriot Express next Friday. Fortunately I found a red eye out of Seattle (one-way) for $726 through China airlines. Pretty much the best deal I found if anyone here is in the same situation I am in. There were several seats left available........
