So what do you think about the iphone? Personally I think it's an over rated, over hyped, pile of EXPENSIVE steaming excrement. Come on it's 500, or 600 depending on the model, for a crappy phone with crappy features. There are a lot of devices that are far better then the iphone. Oh and there not as expensive either.
Heh, here is an article maddox wrote on his website about the iphone. I love this guy, he's funny as hell:

Oh and here is another reason I don't like it. Because of douches like this who think it's the best thing in the world.

God his voice is annoying!

As previously mentioned.....someone in our house hates all the hype over the Icrap.
We will not be purchasing the iphone. Like you said, over priced, over hyped and plenty of pieces of equipment that are fabulous multitasking technological dreams.

Down with ICrap I say!!! No matter what "I" thing they make, someone else makes something similar that is better and usually does more.
Take the 30GB Ipod. Well Creative Labs makes the 30GB Zen. The Zen will play just about any music file formate as well as video, where as the Ipod will only play their file format. And most reviews rate the screen of the ZEN as being a higher quality picture then the Ipod. Oh, and the Zen will run ya about $50 less give or take.

Ok,
So have any of you actually touched and tried it out?
I have to say it is pretty neat in my opinion. I really do like it. It is a little on the expensive side but if you can afford it why not. I have wifi, e-mail, a video ipod and of course a phone.
I commute by train about 3 hours round trip a day and I can listen to music and watch shows plus use the phone. I admit I still need my blackberry for my corporate e-mail but I don't mind.
Its not for everyone but it does fill a need for many including me!!

yes but you can fill those needs with cheaper, better made devices that do exactly the same thing, and even more. I can see that touch screen on the iphone breaking really easy too! Not to mention you have to hear apple addicts brag up and down about how great their new iphone is.
Sure you can listen to music, but it's a damn apple file. You can't play that or transfer that to any other device. Heck you can't even transfer apple music files to other apple ipods. What kinda crap is that? I will admit I do have an ipod, but it's a very old one and I plan on getting rid of it once it breaks.

I prefer my blackberry personally...no need for an Iphone.

Exactly, I have the Samsung Blackjack that I bought for way less then the Iphone, and it does most of the same things the Iphone does minus the touch screen. I have windows media player for movies and music, Internet explorer to surf the web, so I don't see the need to spend that much money for something that I already have.

Well to each his own.
I like it and it fits my needs just fine. It is a bit expensive but thats not an issue with me. They must be doing something correct because they have sold about a million of them. But remember it is not a replacement for the Business/Corporate user.... yet.

It's not an issue with me either, just have better things to spend that kind of money on is all. Figure it makes more financial sense to buy a $200 item that works just as well as the $600 item that is more overpriced then anything because of the name.
They must be doing something correct because they have sold about a million of them.
Yeah, marketing. High sales does not necessarily mean a quality product.

The only thing they are doing correct is tricking people into buying a substandard device that really doesn't do anything special, and paying an arm and a leg for it. If people actually did research and didn't buy it because of the apple name brand, it wouldn't do so hot. Just the fact that apple products only work with apple programs and they even convert their music files into a special apple format, makes apple suck balls.
Why spend 600 on something once you can get a device that will do MORE then the iphone and pay half? Because people are stupid (which relates back to my other thread about stupid people lol) and they will buy whatever is popular no matter what the price.
Oh and here is the other thing I forgot about the iphone. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CONTRACT WITH AT&T!!! What kind of crap is that? My first phone was an AT&T phone and it had horrible service. Always dropping calls, always roaming, and never a signal no matter where I went.

Out of all of the people who have logged onto the new forums, I really enjoy what P-Chan has to say. I like his avatar, and judging from what he has said in regards to the I-Phone, he's probably one of the more intelligent posters out there so far.
Personally, when I absolutely have to use a cell phone, I'll pick up a "Burner" from the exchange, when the minutes expire, I'll toss it. I have not run across a single "all-in-one" device, that actually does what I need it to do.
The camera sucks, my eyes are not as good as they used to be, and let's not even talk about my hearing. Why would I want to watch a movie, on a small screen that I can hardly see? You need to contact me, give me a call. Don't waste my time with texting. Nothing that you could possibly have to say, is worth my time if you could not communicate it verbally. And even then, the importance is doubtful.
Why do I need to have enough storage capacity for 80,000 songs, 4000 hours of video, etc........? I have a life PEOPLE !!!!!
P-Chan is right, people are stupid. They'll buy just about anything, no matter the cost, just to look cool.
On the other hand, I read this thread about Onkyo's new home theater system. It costs about $191,000. That's without the screen, or the home to put it in.
I can manage the latter two, but will need some help. If the forums manage to grow to 191,000 members, and each member sends me a dollar, by the end of the year I'll have enough to purchase that system. I'll try it out for a few days, and will then donate it to P-Chan.
In the real world however, nobody is really stupid enough to support such a scenario.
But i CAN DREAM. :D

Well we are all free to express our opinions.
I do not feel someone is stupid if they choose to buy the iphone. I feel it is a well built quality product. For ME it works and works well.
I did not get all hyped up and in a crazed frenzy. I went to an apple store played with it and bought it.
To me it is just what you would expect from apple.

We shall see how it goes, I was/am with AT&T and experienced the same problems you were having. Was ready to drop the Benjamin's to get out of the contract when they switched to Cingular. When Cingular took over, virtually all my phone problems went away. No more dropped calls, roaming, or any of that non-sense. But now AT&T is taking back over and I am kind of dreading that. But I will give them a chance and see if the quality service I had been getting with Cingular continues with the "new" AT&T. Plus, unfortunately, I resigned with Cingular right before the ball dropped about AT&T so I am in a fresh new contract. :(

Perhaps you'll get lucky and they will need people to resign contracts to continue on with AT&T like they did a yr .5 ago when cingular took over??? Always hope that there is some sort of loop hole. *Fingers crossed*

Ehhh, texting is awesome when it is not polite to talk on the phone yet you have a message to convey to another party. I have seen it be a life saver more than once!! Like my phone went on the fritz and I couldn't hear the other party at all so I could text the hunny to let him know at work how things were going in the ER with one of the kids. Kinda hard to call an office when you can't hear to know if anyone picked up. My FIL even texts and he is pushing 70, so don't gimme this "I'm getting old" line. :D

Ever been stuck 8hrs in an airport with 2 or 3 kids and no luggage????? LIFE saver to have a portable device to help keep grumbling to a minimum.
I'll never be able to fill up my 40gig Ipod with songs. I think I've got mine and my wife's entire collection on it and it's only at about 20% capacity.
But I love these gadgets. I do NOT miss the days of carrying a giant folder full of cds in my bookbag at airplanes and vacations.
I'm not a big fan of "all-in-one" products though. In my experience with them (example, scanner/printers), the quality has never been what it is with individual scanners and printers. Plus, it sucks that when one breaks, it's a pain in the neck to get fixed. Call me old-fashioned, but a scanner should be a scanner, and a phone should be a phone. :P

Ha thanks for the kind words NBTP. I do enjoy your posts and a lot of other members posts too. But flattery will get you know where and I still won't send you a dollar j/k!
I enjoy my ipod and love mp3 players. But I wish I would have done a little more research once I was buying mine. If I knew now what I didn't back once I was purchasing it, I would have got something different.
Just what you expect from apple huh? So you expect it to be an over priced piece of under preforming crap? That is super expensive that you can brag and show off to all your friends and annoying everyone else? That sounds like an apple product to me!
