I guess to remind us of what we're fighting for. That's the only sane reasoning I can think of.........:army:

Oh! Man I'm slow! This is the video that the Danish government put out right? Or am I not in the ball park at all?

Wrong ball park. First, if you're thinking of the cartoons that caused an uproar in 2006 (including the one at the beginning and end of the film), it was a Danish newspaper that published them, not the government.
The film Fitna was made by a Dutch filmmaker.
The news said that it hasn't caused as much of a reaction as was expected. It doesn't say anything that Muslims themselves don't say publicly and privately. The statistics about the number of Muslims in Holland and Europe are just numbers.

I think I got the two mixed into one actually. I was trying to remember who they said made the film and the only thing I could remember was that it was the same country as the cartoons.
I can see how this could create an outrage because I think the extremist want us to be ignorant when they stick their knives in our back. Unless of course they see this as free advertisment in some sort of sick, twisted way.

"Kooks", OK... Judging from what it says at the end, the film is intended to better inform people who might tend to write off the extremists as weirdos and loudmouths. It made an impression on me.
Europeans might understand why it is important to stop movements like Nazism and Muslim extremism, and how to go about it. That's why they joined the US in Afghanistan.
I wonder why they were so lukewarm about joining us in Iraq?

i agree with you, perhaps i chose the wrong wording, i'm ashamed to admit but i dont follow politics and the war as much as i should being a spouse. there is one part where they talk about killing everyone who isnt muslim i guess i knew that they felt that way but i didnt realize it... i cant think of the words i am looking for. i was quite shocked after watching this. i am also glad that live link put it back up, when i saw it it had been pulled from live link and put onto youtube. i think this should be shown on television, because there are many people who dont understand why we are over there.

I'm not to clear on who westonmt was referencing with the kooks comment either. Lets say though that he was referring to the ones in the video making violent threats or the ones cutting the heads off, then I can see what he means. I don't feel as though that would be issuing them a harsh word without warrant. But perhaps the majority of them are really just uninformed or worse, brainwashed into this violent ideal.
Just like the filmmaker and Dutch legislator, Geert Wilders was trying to point out there's a distinction here between those who follow the Muslim religion in a way of faith and peace and those who use it to spread hate and viciously murder on its behalf. I think the latter would be the Kooks that West is referring to.
This film also made an impression on me. I wasn't really sure what it was really going to be like. I read earlier in the news that it had been taken offline. Much to my surprise and delight, ryukyuboi posted it up.

To tell the truth Doug I didn't see much of that in the clip. It seemed pretty one-sided, although as I said before, it was not excessively provocative.

This film does nothing bad add fuel to the fire. It gives the muslim extremists even the more reason to be pissed off, and more support from their muslim brothers; becuase thier a little more pissed of now.
It does nothing to increase the worlds awarness of terroism, everyone knows already.

Well that's also part of the problem. Everyone doesn't know already. And it's that type of environment that breeds this hatred and intolerance. I guess you could say it's going both ways because of the backlash against those muslims that mean us americans (and include americans of muslim faith in the word "us" because we are all americans). Without people in third world countries being properly educated so that they can make their own decisions and stand up for themselves, they will always have their decisions made for them by those that wish to do nothing but use them. And at the same time, the world needs to know that not all muslims are bad. Actually it's a much smaller percentage than the average american is led to believe. We are a LONG ways away from peace my friends.
Also, thanks Taco for correcting the mis-quote.
