Hello JUforums,

I've been on Oki almost a year and am a diehard cyclist(25yrs in 5 major, N. American cities, former NYC shop salesman, wrench, 3 yrs as NY msngr,...survived full-faceplants 2x & still look relatively human:army:
Refuse to quit & my secret to staying young!
I was in Iwakuni 6 yrs ago and picked up some marginal Nihongo; am currently trying to improve but love sharing culture and understand many aspects.
Have met a few local riders and am currently looking for anyone who wants to sell used or unwanted bike parts/components. Namely:
Road cranks/chainwheels(traditional square taper).
Bottom brackets(cartridge or loose bearing/cup & spindle sets with avg.
wear.-square taper type)
Ahead-type stems in longer sizes(115mm->150mm, any rise) & road or mtb
handlebars.
Wheelsets(mtb or 650C-tri) in good working order(nicks,scrapes & minor
hops/wobbles ok--I build & true wheels); and preferably lightwt. due to
being higher qual. or just plain-jane/generic brand alumin.-type.
Saddles-mens & womens widths, w/w-out 'liberator' cut-outs
Possibly even whole bikes depending on price/quality.

I am trying to outfit newbies to Oki & junior svc. members w/relatively cheap but dependable intro-bikes for exploring the island. Mostly sight-seeing, beaches & shopping and trips up to 20k distant, but possibly long trips to Nago and other areas.
I've ridden the daylights out of my mtb/urban-rocket; up to Schwab, Nago and Churaumi since last summer. Bought it stock locally for $260 and put another ~$140 into it for performance; road bike wt. & performance w/city bike agility. I also ride a Schwinn Fastback road and make my 650C mtb available for a guest rider.

Hope to formalize this project as an recreational club or MWR type venue in the future. Currently, it's an open invitation to interested people who want to explore Oki affordably; w/out cars & related expsn's, honcho fares or waiting on buses. A willingness to sweat, get fit and possibly wet(either watersports enroute or unpredictable rain weather!). Never a dull moment!

Hope to hear from some like-minded people.

Cheers
